why?  is this a cultural thing?!  in the US weeks start on sunday and go to saturday hence the word "weekend". if i say "next week" then i mean the next sunday through the following saturday.

It must be a cultural thing because in Britain if you said next week on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday or Sunday, it means from the following Monday.

i guess that explains the mass confusion in this thread.  probably also confirms tidux is american (or at least not british).

It probably is. If you mean next Monday in Britain you'd say 'a week from today' (meaning seven days). Next week is a general term meaning any day from Monday to Sunday. Just to clarify, E3 IS on the 9th isn't it?

It still sounds odd because in this case 'next week' means in 8 days (if it's the 9th). So the week starts on Sunday in America? Don't Americans call Saturday and Sunday, the 'week end'? If they do then Monday would have to be the start of the week for Americans too ... I'm confused.

What day was it 14 hours ago in America?

Every year is just a wait for the next E3. I'd trade Olympics and World Cups for more E3s.

E3 starts the 9th but lasts a few days. ..most importantly ms and sony's conferences are on the 9th.

i counts the week as sunday through saturday so next week is any time in the "next" week.  we say weekend because when you line things up..

sun, mon, tue, wed, thur, fri, sat

sunday and saturday are the ends. of the week.  mon-fri are the middle bits. sometimes wed is refered to as "hump day" as in you've gotten through half of the week.  next week can mean in 8 days i suppose.  if it were a monday and i said, "lets schedule a meeting for next week. how does thursday work for you?" i would mean let's have a meeting in 10 days.

but certainly if i was with a friend on a sunday and i said let's meet next week,.. i'd mean let's meet in the range of 7-13 days from now.

Perhaps this could have something to do with it? IGN are starting a new feature today in which they feature new games:
