I'm jaded because it's all feels to similar to the last three entries. So I'd say no :(
Better games on Wii U include:

Windwaker HD
Pikmin 3
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (The same crit might be levelled at Tekken for being more of the same, I don't know, but I'm new to the series so it's all fresh to me.)
Mario 3d World
Deus Ex: HR
Darksiders 2 (Despite being a terrible port)
Trine 2
W101

Mario Kart is great, reliable and accessible multiplayer fun that can be enjoyed by a range of skill levels. So it's good for when people come over and will probably replace Mario 3d World as the game I immediately boot up when I have guests.

No, it's the best looking Wii U game, but SM3DW is definitely still a superior game. MK8 is pretty awesome, but it's hardly a game changer for the series. Still very much a Mario Kart game as always. The tracks are just amazing though. The creativity to even design them is staggering. I do have to ding it though for battle mode, which I find to be awful in it .

For me it's a pretty close second to SM3DW. Nintendo did a great job of correcting the gripes I had with previous entries

MK8, DKCTF, and SM3DW may be the best games I have ever played on any console of all time.

It is a blast, gorgeous and has the best online multiplayer so far.
I playing WW:HD that i just got with it though, and this game is incredible o.o. A masterpiece hands down.
Than we have SM3DW obviously, and W101 is also amazing.
I haven't played DK:TF or Pikmin 3 yet, so i can't talk about those.

I would order than as the following i think.
1- WW:HD (Adventure)
2- MK8 (Racing)
3- SM3DW (Plataforming)
4- W101 (Action/Adventure/Beat 'em up/Giant Robots/Isometric Rail Shooter/2D Space Shooter/101% Nonsense/ Fun)
5- Child of Light (RPG)
