How good or flawed is my logic regarding competition?

BTW logic should dictate that too much competition is bad. VR space only needs 2-3 major competitors just like in the gaming space. Too much competition would mean profits being spread out too thin or even losses due to not getting enough roi. In the gaming world game budgets are getting close to and sometimes even surpassing movie budgets thus to get a decent roi u need to have less competition or else the industry might collapse if companies aren't getting back their roi. Look at the mobile, laptop, and tv industries, so much competition and only a couple of companies are coming out on top unfortunately and those companies arent really innovating much anymore. In those industries, however the market is big enough for a more competition than the gaming industry thus instead of 3 there should be around 5-6 major companies battling for each but thats not the case when u have 10-15 companies wasting money on roi coming out with similar products that don't differentiate more.

My thoughts regarding Samsung vs. Japan and japan's problem

Japan  has a problem of too much internal competition and strict labor laws that Korea lacks. Sony, Toshiba, Sharp, Panasonic, Japan Display inc., Hitachi, NEC, Fujitsu, Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Renesas, 8 different car companies as well, etc... Their is too much internal competition that they are failing to do what they need to and join forces to take down the Korean company that is Samsung and other global companies as well.

My thoughts on the vr space and if Samsung half asses their product to rush into the market.

Well as long as it gets shat on by project morpheus I'll be happy. Sony likes to have a mix of design, quality, and function, while Samsung likes to half ass something to come out quicker in the market. Hopefully project morpheus becomes mainstream enough for Samsung's product to sell nothing and get discontinued. I can't stand it when people by subpar cost cutting Samsung products.

Competition is great and all but when shoddy products sell more than a better competitors products people get turned off causing a decline in the industry and I'm just scared that Samsung might cause people to do that in the vr space as they have done a lot (from experience with android).

Consumerism, Sales vs. Quality, and Marketing

Just because something sells more doesn't mean it's the better product consumerism is on a decline with people just buying into marketing vs buying better quality products. Point in case beats vs sennheiser, bowers and Wilkins, akg, etc... lcd vs plasma... Galaxy and iPhone vs z1 compact, z2, HTC one... mp3 vs flac. Mainstream is uneducated and it really stinks for those of us (audio/videophiles)  who like buying the best from the industry.

Future Ideologies

So I came into an arguement many times when people say they are glad that samsung copies japanese, and now apple's products (with less quality at that) and sells it for cheaper. I feel like that's the stupidest reason to because when you buy a product, you are also buying into the investment, and the future of a company. I support Sony and other japanese companies products because I like what they are bringing to the table and I know they have the engineers to innovate further and they have a nice balance of design, funtionality, and specs. I definitely as hell don't feel the same way with samsung as all they have done so far is copy and paste, put a ton of marketing into it, and make it cheaper. Again the basis of quality, innovation, and progress, vs quick fix of saving a couple of bucks.

Samsung will never go down! Their marketing department is too good!

I don't buy my phone thinking about the future of the company. I don't work there, and I don't own shares there so I don't care!

What matters the most is price. I like quality in the products I buy, but my budget is limited. Why would I buy a "slightly better" phone when I can buy a similiar one for a much better price?

I'm not talking about the "future of a company" im talking about the future of what products and innovations you feel as if the company can bring to the table if you support them. All I can say is society is becoming too short sighted.

So... Corporations (i.e. legal conspiracies to avoid liability for the owners) really are people?

You could think about it that way. But then you remember you only have money for the cheaper phone... and suddenly... you stop caring about innovation and "the future".

In case that you had the money to buy the more expensive phone, you would still have to take into account the added features. Do the features in this phone justify the higher price tag? For example the Sony phone that can go underwater is $14999 here whereas the Samsung S4 is $6999. The waterproof feature is nice to have but it doesn't justify the higher price tag.

It's the Sony ZR. And FYI those Sony phones are way more expensive than the Samsung ones at least in this country. There is no good reason to buy a Sony phone here.

Both Sony and Nintendo also use Samsung for key components in the PS4 and Wii U.  For the PS4 it's the 8GB GDDR5 RAM.   For the Wii U it's the 2GB GDDR3 RAM and the 8GB or 32GB NAND flash memory chip.
