Another player goes to China. I mean I don't mind the idea of people like Pelle getting a pay day after years in the industry readying for retirement by Mikel Obi? Oscar? They have good years left and moving there might move them into obscurity, especially for National Teams.

Their (their agents) choice I guess.

Yeah, Oscar is young and  has a lot of money. Maybe he thinks he can come back after 1 or 2 seasons but it will be hard (Don't know about China league but it's surely under the big 5 leagues and south american ones too)

I'd say in quality it probably 2nd best in asia, the best league being Japan. But this isn't saying much when nearly all leagues in Europe are better.

The payday is big for these players though, in terms of retirement, then sure, go for it. But for a young player, who I would have thought is trying to get into their national side to win cups? Not sure.

Alas, with recent news Fonte isn't happy at Saints, I'm wondering if he is after his retirement payday but who would take him? He's 33 and I'm not sure who, other than a big China/US move, would take him. We offered him a new contract which he didn't want but we are more run as a business now more than ever to make sure we stay in money and don't drain it like we used to. Yet he deserves to get a good amount of money for the work he's done for us, joining us in League 1 and working hard to get to when he is now. Not only Captain but Euro winner this year, from a player a few seasons ago in 3rd teir of English football. Sad to see him leave if he does.

Hmm, pie.

Aaaaand RIP the World Cup

48 teams = bullshit
16 groups of 3 teams = fucking retarded

Well I did want a bigger world cup... but 48 teams is too big! And 16 groups of 3 teams? Guess that means only 1 team from each group is going through.

Nope, top 2 progress.

God, it's going to go on for like 3 months. We are all going to be bored of it by the end and just wanting the new season to start. :P

Hmm, pie.

48 teams is one thing but I'm not sure about groups of 3 with 2 going through.

It's really gonna fuck things up

  1. Countries such as Croatia will be the best in their group. Now I have all due respect for Croatia, but there's something wrong if a country of their level gets to head a group.
  2. It's simply unfair when going into the knock-out stages. One team might get a full week of rest while their opponents might only get 3 days.
  3. Teams might be able to determine what kinda result they need and play it safe. You'll probably see countries draw on purpose just so they can't fuck themselves on accident.

I can understand the tournament getting bigger as more countries dedicate resources to football me personally I don't mind 48 teams but the grouping is stupid, 8 groups of 6 is more logical as you could have 3 games a day from each group with maybe 2 groups playing their matches per day ( two matches around Noon, two in the afternoon and two in the evening), top 2 progress into a round of 16. The tournament retains some solid structure this way and makes things more challenging for teams to get out.

This is clearly rigged for minnows to get whipped to make other teams look better early on.
