You keep telling yourself that because history was what forced the rule into being as well as many other things in football. Football is about outscoring your opponent but what goes on during a match wasn't always reflective of the aim of the game hence why the are rules in the first place, an example during a world cup games in the same group used to be played on different days because teams are meant to play to win no matter what right? Nope West Germany and another team fixed a match by just casually passing the ball around with no shot at goal the whole game because they knew a draw would see them both through knocking out another team (I think it was Algeria) that would have gone through if either of them had lost. This forced the competition to changed so that all group games are played at the same time.

If you naively think what you see in today's game would happen with out rules you're fooling yourself, you've even flat out admitted the rule is doing it's job, the rule is in place for a reason and is the result of what I've told you, it wasn't just randomly made up on the spot the teams and the players are the ones who forced it into existence. You not liking Atleti's style means bugger all to me and I don't care tbh. They already tried decades with out the rule why do you think it exists in the first place, it made exploiting tactics and situations much more riskier plus the lure of an away goal made away teams more willing to attack. Before it was in effect many matches were defensive 1-0 and so on, the competition became more aggressive when UEFA created the rule as conceding a goal now had an added risk and new angle.

lol at your post, like, really. You couldn't agree to disagree but continued to personally insult me, first by suggesting I was salty and now for being naive. Away games were harded back in the day for various reasons (look it up) and teams, players and managers who forced it are long retired. Today, there's a number of teams, managers, players etc. who would like to see this rule gone. As for me admitting the rule is doing it's job, try reading the rest of what I wrote about it.

You example of West Germany is a whole another issue and has nothing to do with argument at hand. A straw man that. I'm all for improving competition. Just because a rule was developed decades ago to adress issues they had back then doesn't mean it should never be re-evaluated. Rules change.

You didn't answer to my two questions at the beginning of my later post. Here's one more, if they took out this rule do you think football would go back to what it was in 60s and every team would just park the bus when playing away? Now, go easy on those lame personal insults, all we are talking about is a rule in football ffs...

Except point out the insult because the are none if you think someone responding to your post is insulting you that's your own personal issue otherwise you're fabricating something because you don't have much to stand on, want to talk about strawman arguments look at your post it's essentially "But that was a long time ago things are different now", it's like saying human rights shouldn't exist because we're not living in the dark ages.

The example of West Germany shows you that people don't have the mentality you'd like them to have so the game had to be changed to stamp such things out, I read the rest of your post by the way, you admitted the rule is doing its job then went on to say you don't like Atleti as well as come up with no counter argument for the rule.

Your two questions were already answered, with out the rule Bayern would not have attacked as hard as they did as 2-1 would mean going to extra time and penalties, the rule meant that Atleti's goal counts towards their head to head so Bayern could no longer hope for extra or penalties and had to win the game outright with out response. Yes Football would revert back to exploiting tactics probably even more so now why? Because things are more money driven now, grind the win out and progress, more teams would park the bus away.

I don't have any problem with defensive tactics, but what I hate about atlético are their dirty tricks(fighting, hiding balls, interrupting plays by throwing balls, pretending injuries, etc...)

I have the same problem with teams that play offensive or defensive, it's not about tactics, it's about ethics

You're making it sound like only Atlético does it. Every team/player that is winning does this. No exception. Time wasting is very common.

Atletico blatantly did it to Bayern and Barcelona, I've seen many matches where the winners were offensive the entire game or defensive, even with subtle time wasting. But Atletico make time wasting seem like an art, it's frustrating to watch. I don't care even if every team did it it doesn't make it less of a dick move.

Their goalkeepers feined injury in extra time was something else

Come on, other teams do that too but Atletico does it on a different level. Yesterday's match turned me from neutral to root for Bayern and now whoever reach the finals, Real or City. I really hope this playstyle doesn't succeed

Also Simeone could be a good manager, but he's an absolute twat

That's what I mean! Time wasting is a big problem in Football, but it's also very common. I just wish technology was implemented all around and we start considering faking real and punishable offenses.

And I highly, completely doubt Oblak faked that. Not only a gigantic dick move, but unnecessary.

Madrid 3-2 City

Ronaldo will be the difference maker.

Madrid wins 2-0

Madrid aren't much better in terms of shitty tactics I mean Ronaldo goes down with a changing of the wind. But I want them to run though Atletico (assuming they beat man city) mainly because of their manager.

I never thought I'd see the day Atletico were more hated than Real.
