Forums - Nintendo - Can the Wii U achieve "modest" sales

Its up to Nintendo. If they promote it right and keep making great games then I think it can.

All these threads are a little pointless, because we are soon to find out if this is true.
Nintendo has 3 big hitters, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, and Zelda next year.
If they fail, the only thing remaining would be a console pokemon game.

Being positive, Nintendo only needs an install base of 30 millions for their franchises to be big selling hits.

Actually even on a 20 million install base Nintendo games sell well. Mario Sunshine, Mario Kart and Smash Bros each sold 6-7 million, Animal Crossing, Wind Waker and Luigi's Mansion sold 3-5 million each along with a bunch of 1-3 million sellers.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

The GameCube had "modest" sales? I would call those bad.

Now, if you asked if Wii U might be able to achieve "bad" sales instead of "terrible" sales I might say yes. It'll be a huge struggle, though.

idk if you mean 20-25M then yeah its possible to achieve that as i and a few other at this time have it pegged to sell 17-20M as of today but anything over 25M than im gonna say impossible

They can do it if they market it correctly. Also how do you make a thread?

At this point they should just focus on profits, meaning no pricecut for a good while and less excessive bundling. Nintendo's shown signs of this possibly being their gameplan as there's no price cut to go along with MK8 and while there is a bundle, it's selling for more than it normally would.

Depends how much Mario Kart 8 takes off. If they advertise the crap out of it and distinguish it as a must-have sequel, sales may take off to Gamecube-levels.

Wii and Wii U were both powerhouses, until Microsoft and Sony (both makers of computers) released the much stronger PS3/PS4 and XB360/XB1.

I think the maximum it can do is 40 million, 20 million at the lowest.
