When Nintendo releases their new home console, they really need to focus on making a strong brand, like PlayStation and Xbox.

They need to do exactly what they did with GameCube, but with nothing to scare off third parties.
No. Why?
Because the Wii was lightning in a bottle, right product, right time, right everything. They've never had that before and won't again. The stars aligned for them. I don't even think it's possible to come up with a concept that others won't come up with.
And in terms of appealing to core/your average gamer, MS and Sony will always likely be five steps ahead. Nintendo would have to do many things they really wouldn't want to, to be on a level playing field.
Also, WiiU will not be second, not by a long shot.

Well, I don't think X1 will do wonders, but I'm sure it will be ahead of WiiU by a big margin.

Nintendo's brand is, well, Nintendo. They tried using the Wii brand in Wii U and it didn't work. The Game Boy was the only brand they created that was strong enough to stand without Nintendo - see GBA.
Nintendo Entertainment System
Nintendo Game Boy
Super Nintnedo Entertainment System
Nintendo 64
Game Boy Advance
Nintedo GameCube
Nintendo DS
Nintendo Wii
Nintendo 3DS
Wii U

I disagree completely. Bad decisions make a true winner.

By making it a cheap Nintendo box with so many exclusives that it doesn't need 3rd party support, while at the same time being so easy to develop for that it doesn't discourage 3rd parties from making games on it. The need to expand. Disney is self sufficient. Nintendo needs to be Disney.
