True, but you need something revolutionary to get really hyped. This looks like a good and fun game (it will have co-op right?) but if you are expecting more you will get dissapointed and that happened to some people, me included. It is a new IP, I was expecting something new beside the setting and the improved graphics, right now is not really delivering, so dissapointment, it does not mean that the game will not be good, it might even be great, but this little sneak peek does not get my hype up.

He did a better job than people think..if they actually bothered to try understanding what's going on in the game... as was already explained here more than once.

I see. I'll admit, I'm not much of a shooter guy. It's just that I'm not willing to go through reading several people's exagerrated and unjustified disappointments with a very brief 2 minutes of teaser footage. I mean RAD hasn't even shown combat against the monsters of London.


My point was simply that what happened wasn't poor playing, it was poor viewing by many of the viewers. I mean seriously, all you had to do was look at the name of the gun, in case you missed the tutorial text, and then looked at was being shot and how it was being done. I understood it right away. What were people looking it? Galahad's hair? :p

Haha, I guess I was too engrossed in his hair. Anyways, I looked at the footage again and yeah, I understand what you mean. He's wielding a thermite gun.



Well, I'll at least wait till tuesday where we'll apparently get some previews which supposedly are all "absolutely incredible", I'm still optimistic for the game.

Pros:

- graphics
- cutscene/gameplay transition
- sound work
- environmental destruction
- setting more interesting than any TPS (this we already knew)
- recoil! about time a TPS wasn't afraid of putting some damn decent recoil on the guns

Cons:

- AI?
- too much aiming acceleration? can't tell without actual being the one playing but it looked like KZ2 levels of acceleration were there

The AI bit i'll reserve judgement though. AFAIK half breeds should still be the main enemy right? We don't know for how much of the game we fight these regular humans.. possibly not much.

Theres also this thing called a story line. Some people like those in some of the games they play.

Yep, seems like a fair list ^^ I think it being the most interesting setting for a TPS is entirely subjective, but it's peaked my own interested that's for sure.

Has to be said though, RAD have been pretty poor with showing the game off :P

That was the most important thing for me to find out. I can't understand the clowns putting the graphics or animations down, they're the best I've seen so far.

after watching the gameplay video again.. i do not find those dialogues unncessary coz as a player ur busy shooting guys in the balcony while dragging the injured backward... also how convicing a French would sound while speaking englisth :P

You never ever ever use narrative in speach, it's the most amateurish thing you can do. 'Move ... move ..." is all you need with the camera focusing for a second on why you need to move. A camera angle from just inside the door would suffice for us to understand they were almost there. This is why it drives me nuts when I try to explain why TLOU is a masterpiece.

yes agreed, no one has touched TLoU in terms of presentation and naration, but dont you think we should cut RAD some slack, i mean ND had 3 games worth
of experience before nailing TLoU... and this is RAD first true AAA game, and a first try at an original IP of this scale, so i think they will learn and not to mention UC had some pretty corny dialogues too. So lets be fair to this New Studio by not judging it too soon.

Personally I think the gameplay looked awful.

Generic grab guy pull him to cover scene - Check

Enemy AI walks out on the ledge waiting to be shot - Check

Main character litteraly stands in the same place shooting enemies - Check

This game looks straight up boring 


but have you an example of how a 3rd person cover shooter would have to do different?

really miss the VGCHARTZ of 2008 - 2013...
