I wouldn't want to call it right now. Both will receive games that'll appeal to the Japanese market, but the focus of games more orientated to japan, such as jrpg's, will probably be handhelds and smartphones.

As people have said, the ps4 will get many more big third party games and will be a compelling option. However, the Wii U looks good too. Hyrule warriors, bayonetta 2, smash bros and pokken are all the kind of games that do well in Japan, and arguably the kind of games they might prefer to play on a home console. Nintendo's actually catering well to Japanese tastes so, when things start moving, I imagine many Japanese won't feel that there's shortage of games on either system.

Japan is Nintendo's to lose.

Whichever platform gets DQ11 (if it's a traditional DQ game) will win Japan. Provided it's a home console release, that is :)

It's incredibly premature to determine the outcome of the PS4 using 3 momths of data, I find it highly ironic that for months I've heard from ninttendo fans all over the net;"Wait til Mariokart, Brawl, Zelda, Bayonetta, "X" ect" and yet won't give the PS4 the same credence? Sure the race for #1 in Japan is anyones game but do people honestly believe that the PS4 sill continue it current trend when it's get ITS games like: Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Kingdom Hearts and other notable franchises when they make their move to PS4?

The thing is, it will get harder and harder to sell home consoles there. So it all goes to when those japan titles are coming to PS4. Since PS4 is so focused on the west (and i am not saying it shouldn't), we could see really awful PS4 numbers there. You can't count with japanese third party yet, they are going to farm PS3 for the next years, unless Sony pays them to do different.

Saying it will overcome PS3 numbers is wishful thinking.

About Wii U, it does have some time to build some kind of advantage. All three versions of Hyrule Warriors now sits in Amazon's top 10, with the most expensive special edition sitting in 1st place! The second in the rank being Mario Kart 8. http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/bestsellers/videogames/

Well Mario and Hyrule Warriors are more appealing to the Japanese than Gran Turismo, Uncharted, and LittleBigPlanet, so you're probably right.

Well technically Gran Turismo games sell more in Japan than Dystany Warriors but with the help of Link I guess you're right. ;)
