The difference is that we've seen the actual impact, or lack thereof, that Wii U exclusives have had in Japan, the same can not be said for the PS4. We have data showing that the Wii U keeps on moving slowly even after bigger titles release but we have no such data for the PS4 yet. After MGS, Gran Turismo or something like Final Fantasy, we can start compiling data on the effects of bigger exclusives for the PS4 (with actual appeal in Japan, that is). Then again, we also need to see the impact of MK and SSB to know more about the Wii U's future here and elsewhere.
Besides; when all is said and done, it won't matter that much since the total lifetime sales for both consoles in Japan this gen will be fairly poor at best.

The Wii U is now holding number one & number two with games on Amazon Japan. Mario Kart 8 has been number one about a week. Hyrule Warriors just took number one. Japan is Nintendo's!

It will be in a week or so and likely for some time this summer, but we don't know what the playing field will look like in one year. It's really too early to discount a three month old console (on the Japanese market) against one that has had over 18 months to build a library, bundles and adjust prices, the PS4 hasn't had a single holiday season in Japan either as of yet while the Wii U has had two.
Like I've been saying though; neither will set the charts on fire.
PS: Amazon as a basis for predictions is not a very exact science. Baby seals and all that.
