No. When the steady stream of PS4 exclusives come in it'll eventually overtake. This gen still has another 4/5 years left you realise? WiiU is only reacting to game bumps and even then it's not been very impressive.

If PS4 slumbers the same then perhaps, but going by how PS3 sells, I doubt it.

So the PS4 exclusives are going to "save" the PS4? Kinda like Super Mario 3D World "saved" the Wii U... right?

The difference is that we've seen the actual impact, or lack thereof, that Wii U exclusives have had in Japan, the same can not be said for the PS4. We have data showing that the Wii U keeps on moving slowly even after bigger titles release but we have no such data for the PS4 yet. After MGS, Gran Turismo or something like Final Fantasy, we can start compiling data on the effects of bigger exclusives for the PS4 (with actual appeal in Japan, that is). Then again, we also need to see the impact of MK and SSB to know more about the Wii U's future here and elsewhere.

Besides; when all is said and done, it won't matter that much since the total lifetime sales for both consoles in Japan this gen will be fairly poor at best.

The Wii U is now holding number one & number two with games on Amazon Japan.  Mario Kart 8 has been number one about a week.  Hyrule Warriors just took number one.  Japan is Nintendo's!

The PS4 will have quadruple the Japanese exclusives that the Wii U will have, at the least. I can't imagine the Wii U overcoming that.

It will be in a week or so and likely for some time this summer, but we don't know what the playing field will look like in one year. It's really too early to discount a three month old console (on the Japanese market) against one that has had over 18 months to build a library, bundles and adjust prices, the PS4 hasn't had a single holiday season in Japan either as of yet while the Wii U has had two.

Like I've been saying though; neither will set the charts on fire.

PS: Amazon as a basis for predictions is not a very exact science. Baby seals and all that.

We're discussing apples & oranges. Right now the Wii U has the lead and the games in Japan. The PS4 has stalled in Japan and all I'm reading is wait for it to have games.

Someone has to start the necrobait threads, amirite?

Indeed, this will be fun in the future. You'll be surprised at the results.

I don't know what Nintendo fans are getting so excited about, guess they'll take any victory they can even if it's premature. The PS4 has third party support at the moment they're all still to busy making PS3 games, as long as that doesn't switch camps then the PS4 has this in the bag. But good things take time :)

I promise you I won't, all possible results will be hilarious. Except catastrophes, those are never funny.

a) PS4 wins Japan

b) Wii U wins Japan

c) Xbox One wins Japan

d) Ouya wins Japan

e) iOS wins Japan

f) Android wins Japan

g) Linux wins Japan

h) Atari wins Japan

I)...etc

It really doesn't matter how well or poorly consoles do in Japan anymore.

They'll have a far more positive impact than WiiU exclusives have had. Wait for Resident Evil, Final Fantasty, Metal Gear Solid ect.

Metal Gear Solid V already came out in Japan for the PS3 and PS4 and did barely nothing for the console. Those franchises don't have the same power in Japan as they used to on home consoles. The FFXIII series sold less than 3million together in Japan (I & II). FFVII in the day, by itself, sold 3.3m and FFVIII 3.7m.

Most japanese gamers play their games on handhelds, and when they don't, they have voted for Nintendo's home console of late. Also, Nintendo's offerings on the home console are much more in the same taste as the games on the most popular handheld this generation. Games like Pikmin match games like Mario Kart, because they are from the same creative mind.

No it didn't. The critically panned demo prequel thing came out. If you honestly think millions upon millions of fans of Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil and countless other franchises that sold the majority on PS3, combined, have disappeared into thin air, you really shouldn't be debating with me. You're wrong.

This, plus the WiiU has been out a whole year longer and the PS4 would pass it this year if it had not been. Japan is irrelevant, but the games mentioned will put the PS4 above the WiiU easily as those games are actually popular compared to Nintendo as a whole.

i still think its funny how certain users really think that sony can continue this path they are on with the ps4 and take japan. their attention is on america. what does sony have (that we know about) for japan? a whole year will pass without a single game being released for japan.
