So the PS4 exclusives are going to "save" the PS4? Kinda like Super Mario 3D World "saved" the Wii U... right? |
Yes, exactly like that.
Apart from it'll be about 10 games saving the PS4, not 1.

Oh my god! No! It was just a response to Anfebious' "Super Mario 3D World was supossed to "save" the Wii U..." I just don't like people dooming a console in Japan before it has even 1 single interesting title. I think it's rather silly to be honest. Give it some time. Chill dude. I'm a PS and Nintendo fan.. Not trying to conveniently leave out anything. |
he wasnt really saying that 3d world was supposed to save the wii u, im not sure if you know that or not.
anyways, im not really following what you were responding to or what you are trying to say. but basically i think its pretty obvious the wii u will win in japan if sony keeps focusing their attention on the US only. the wii u has more titles that appeal to japanese gamers.
fair enough predicition the Wii beat the PS3 didn't it in japan and world wide so shouldn't be such a difficult task for the WiiU
the fact that the PS4 has already taken the WiiU global crown shows how different this gen is to the Wii's gen which sold more both in japan and WW

I smell like the dark forest of Dwemereth in the morning mist
fanboy til i'm bankrupt

The problem is the Wii U is just such an incredibly unattractive piece of hardware, on top of 3D World only being one game that's dangerously similar to a game they could already get on 3DS.
There was a poll a while back asking Japanese game players where they most wanted to see the Next Dragon Quest, and the PS4 won by a landslide while the Wii U was scrapping a pathetic single digit %.
What was notable about the question was they left out the 3DS and Vita entirely from the question, which is likely where the lion share of votes would've gone otherwise. But it stands to show there's far more interest for the actual PS4 hardware than the lolwiiu.
If the PS4 hasn't surpassed the Wii U in Japan a year after FFXV releases (and I'm expecting an end of 2015 release, so I guess by the end of 2016), I'll be legitimately shocked.
Let's wait for the first holiday of ps4 and then you can say that. Besides there is a precedent of sony consoles selling with huge legs even in there. PS3 is still getting most third party games.

do you understand that the wii u is going to have more games that appeal to japanese gamers than the ps4 does? you need to understand that before you say 10 vs 1.
ok, now work on understanding that.

I know. xD That's why I'm saying "Yeah. Some hoped that SM3DW would turn things around for Wii U and it didn't. But I really think the situation is a little different regarding the PS4. IT HAS NO JAPANESE CENTRIC BIG SELLERS! That's why I gave the list with the Japanese big sellers and asked Anfebious to wait a little with the dooming.
And naturally I agree with you that Sony can't expect the PS4 to improve if they don't give more attention to Japan. But I think the attention is coming eventually. PS4 is already confirmed to get a Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Kingdom Hearts, One Piece, Hot Shots Golf, Dragon's Dogma, Souls game, Tales of game, the other popular JRPGS, etc.
Edit: But if the PS4 isn't improving when these games are released I'll admit that I was wrong.
I don't care about who is "winning" in Japan. All I hope is that both Wii U and PS4 (and XB1 and console gaming in general) do great and I dislike all the "PS4/XB1/Wii U/etc. is doomed"-threads. Especially when the so-called doomed console currently doesn't have a single game appealing to said market.

The difference is that we've seen the actual impact, or lack thereof, that Wii U exclusives have had in Japan, the same can not be said for the PS4. We have data showing that the Wii U keeps on moving slowly even after bigger titles release but we have no such data for the PS4 yet. After MGS, Gran Turismo or something like Final Fantasy, we can start compiling data on the effects of bigger exclusives for the PS4 (with actual appeal in Japan, that is). Then again, we also need to see the impact of MK and SSB to know more about the Wii U's future here and elsewhere.
Besides; when all is said and done, it won't matter that much since the total lifetime sales for both consoles in Japan this gen will be fairly poor at best.
