Forums - Gaming - Which Games From This Gen Broke Expectations By A Huge Amount(Sales)? (PS4/Vita/X1/WiiU/3DS)

It is a good argument, you said they didn't do enough to get it recognition, but seeing as that they had ads plastered all over the internet, they did.

And commercials dedicated to the PS4 in general, with gameplay bits from other games mixed in. Knack was a huge focus for them since they wanted to appeal to casual audiences. It along with Killzone were the only notable exclusive AAA launch titles, so yeah, they gave it a lot of love.

Plastered all over the internet? I don't know what websites you were visting around launch, but aside from Sony's YT channel, I didn't see it anywhere, so your terminology is ridiculous as far as I'm concerned.

Highlight reels and montages in commercials with a bunch of other games that are mainly focused on new hardware are not dedicated avertisement, which is why I said Knack had minimal dedicated advertisement. Then you responded with: "Minimal dedicated advertising? You're kidding, right?" Your last post just argued in favor of what I was saying.

Sony had dedicated Knack advertisements on plenty of gaming websites.

Sony had dedicated Knack advertisements on plenty of gaming websites.

So it was advertised to hardcore gamers who for the most part already knew about the game, and...that's basically it.

That's what I call minimal dedicated advertisement.

And those are basically the vast majority of the early adopters this gen.

Titanfall has done amazingly - currently about a one-third attachment rate according the VGC.

On the other hand, the X360 version has under-performed horrendously.

Didn't you just say they were making a big push for casuals and families? Lol you can't make up your mind, can you?

Going by your logic, TW101 received a big marketing push too.

And that's where the TV ads came in.

Also, I doubt even Sony anticipated the amount of attention core gamers gave to the PS4.

Not everyone on gaming sites is an early-adopter/core-gamer. There are tons of casual gamers on sites like IGN and gamespot, just more core gamers than ever embraced the consoles early.

You mean the ones for the PS4 that showed a brief glimpse at the game along with a bunch of others? We've been over this. You're still not getting it.

Okay?

Not everyone on gaming sites is an early-adopter/core-gamer. There are tons of casual gamers on sites like IGN and gamespot, just more core gamers than ever embraced the consoles early.

If you think the people who play games casually are also the ones who frequent websites dedicated to videogame news and coverage, then I'm just wasting my time here.

You don't think casual gamers occasionally visit HUGE game sites like IGN, which cover things past just videogames (like movies, smartpone apps, and entertainment in general)?

Both TV spot commercials for Knack made for the US. It had commercials, whether or not you saw them or they aired in your area.

Knack only did so well because it was bundled in Japan

Even without Japan it has done 600k and counting on a small install base. I doubt many people expected that.

Look at Ryse. It has poor reviews and still inching its way to a million on a platform with a smaller userbase.

People were clearly turned off by Knack. 600K is not much to boast about for a launch game with a 1st party push.
