Also, I doubt even Sony anticipated the amount of attention core gamers gave to the PS4.

Not everyone on gaming sites is an early-adopter/core-gamer. There are tons of casual gamers on sites like IGN and gamespot, just more core gamers than ever embraced the consoles early.
If you think the people who play games casually are also the ones who frequent websites dedicated to videogame news and coverage, then I'm just wasting my time here.

You don't think casual gamers occasionally visit HUGE game sites like IGN, which cover things past just videogames (like movies, smartpone apps, and entertainment in general)?
