So, it turns out that Google just bought Quest Visual (the company behind World Lens) a couple days ago.

You may ask how it relates to gaming.

Well, World Lens allows you to use a camera to directly translate other languages, in real time. Now that Google has bought it, they will be able to incorporate Google Translate into it and better optimize Google Glass for it.

This could be phenomenal for those of us who like to play imports.

Like Google Glass or not, the ability to play a game, with all the text being translated in real time directly right to your eyes, is simply astounding. Not all games get localized, and this technology can help us play these games without blindly guessing what the hell is going on in-game. 

Not to mention, for all the manga fans out there, perhaps soon we will be able to read chapters as soon as they come out, without hoping that someone will eventually translate them :D

Now, the tech is no where near being perfect, and Google Translate itself still needs a lot of work to be fully functional, but with Google working on connecting the world, it is my hope that one day this tech can be utilized in all aspects of life.

The future may soon be upon us.

It can translate a lot of languages including Japanese which helped me a lot with the instructions of the anime figures that I get from japan since some of them are tricky to setup

True, but the ability to translate without having to have your phone scanning the game continuously is kinda cool!

Well, it does it real time but yea! I hope we get more VNs/Mangas/Games out of stuff like this although I will admit that it gets confused with the names T_T. Like the name of a Company

Which software? Word lens has no Japanese support yet.

Its called "Optical Reader" and then there is a Japanese translate button on the right

Unfortunately by then all Japanese games will be f2p iOS trash.

Well its slow and uses data but its good at translating... I even got my Japanese speaking friend to talk Japanese in S-Translate and it translated it very well according to him! I also use it to translate my Yotsuba Daily Calender cause it has some random japanese text on each day which is quite funny although not perfect translation T_T

With Google Traslate support officially being added in by Google, it should soon.
