Prove they didn't.

Common sense not enough?
You are free to believe what you like, but anyone who honestly believes AMD managed to make that huge a leap in low end GPU technology and then not attempt to monetize, utilize or progress upon it in the slightest are frankly kidding themselves.
Anyway i'm going to take my leave from this thread and stop replying to comments, discussions aren't much fun when people try to argue against the obvious ^^;

Pointless thread. PS4>Xbox1>Wii U. We already knew that.

Do what you like.
I'm of the opinion that the Wii U is underestimated power-wise.
Now, before you jump down my throat: Yes, I realize and accept it is not in the same graphical league as the PS4 and Xbox One.
But the thing is, we haven't had even one game made from the ground up for it with the intention of pushing its technological limits yet.
Judging its full capacity based on what we've seen so far is silly, because no modern console ever shows its absolute best graphics in its first 18 months, especially when nobody has even really tried.

Except it is unreasonable. The thing is while we may not know the specifics, we do know the power consumption of the WiiU's various parts. As fatslob said earlier in the thread, if the WiIU's GPU has the same watt to GFLOPs ratio as the most efficient 40nm GPU AMD has ever produced, then it would peak at 0.362tflop/s. Of course, in reality the WiiU's Latte is a lower end GPU, meaning it having the same efficiency is rather unlikely. The chances of it being higher than 0.362tflop/s at that wattage are incredibly small. It's certainly not impossible, but no reasonable person would expect it. |
You do realize there is still a NDA on the real specs. All these responses in the thread are completely inaccurate. Common sense is pointless here

My thoughts exactly.

*starts the slow clap that eventually ends in a standing ovation*
This exactly, the closest thing we had was Need For Speed Most Wanted U, and even that wasn't built from the ground up for it (nor is the Need For Speed series AAA) and it looked absolutely amazing.

I wasn't planning on replying to anything else in this thread but that's just too hilarious.
Anyway, the NDA simply means no official source can comment on the WiiU's specifications. It doesn't stop outside sources buying a wattage meter and measure the energy flow of the WiiU. It's not exactly rocket science.
As i said to bigtakilla, anyone who believes AMD have created the most energy efficient GPU on the planet, then not monetized, utilized or progressed upon it in the slightest are being ridiculous. AMD is a company. They exist to make money, and that technology would be worth an awful lot of it. The fact they haven't attempted to use the concepts behind it in ANYTHING for almost 2 years now is proof enough it doesn't exist. Frankly, it's pretty embarrassing how desperate some people are to believe the WiiU's GPU is some kind of revolutionary new piece of technology. It's a $250 - $300 console for goodness sake
Anyway, i really am leaving this thread now. That last comment was just too hilarious to pass up on x'D

G'bye now.

The strange part is, I don't think anyone was arguing with him on how powerful the GPU was, just arguing the fact that he didn't know. At least he got a good laugh out of it. Oh well, I did as well!
