Is there anyone who actually believed in this ? I mean, it's possible, but not in the near future.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

Trust me! There was a high number of gamers who actually believed that!

MS realised most people don't believe in fairy tales, and not as dumb as they think.

Now that you mention it, a lot of people also believed in the secret 2nd GPU, and in the fact that DirectX12 will fill the hardware gap between XbO and PS4 (because yeah, all devs say the PS4 will improve in performance as well, but that's all lies, because only Microsoft can do that)

I think people who play video-games have become accustomed to doubt promises of unproven potential. It might have been hyped but it was never displayed in real world situations. As it stands now, it should be considered mainly marketing speak.

They haven't really had much chance to show it though. I wonder if they will talk about it at E3.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

The technical term would be "it was bullshit" :p

Sure it's certainly possible, but MS were flat out lying if they ever said we would be seeing significant visual improvements any time soon.
