Forums - Nintendo - Mario Kart 8 reviews- 89 on Metacritic (again)

In the end this will go to above 90% I'd think. But I read the NWR review and think that I won't agree with his review when I eventually get to play the game. Bland... how could MK be bland...

So, can someone tell me... what's happening with the battle mode then? I've heard a lot of people are disappointed but I've not heard specifically why...

Something about there not being any battle arenas in the game? Does this mean battle mode takes place along normal tracks? o.O

That's exactly what it means unfortunately. They also removed coin runners.

I think I predicted 90 or 91, so no buy for me..... nah just kidding this game is going to be awesome!

I find it odd that Ninty is sending all these review copies so soon before the official release. Theres still 2 weeks to go. =(

I know the teasing is cruel, they need to give us a f*n demo at least.

"Chat is restricted to lobbies with friends only. There’s no option to invite friends into a game, and Mario Kart 8 also doesn't provide message notifications. This is seriously disappointing because you have to use outside means to coordinate friends-only races. " - Taken from IGN review.

This is the most disappointing thing I have heard yet about the game. I don't understand why they wouldn't give the option to invite friends into a race.

When you've got Miiverse and a web browser built into the OS (and accessible while in-game, though probably not while online), it hardly counts as "outside means." Would they call it "outside means" if you had to hit the menu button to look at your friends list on Live or PSN?

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

A 89 is not bad at all! The complaints regarding the Battle Mode, roster ( Who wanted Baby Rosalina?!) and such seem very valid to me!

I wanted Baby Rosalina.

I am 100% sure that you are in the very small minority, my friend!

Damn, just shy of 90!

Amazing how Nintendo keeps the formula fresh.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Battle mode was always something I skipped anyways.

Me, too. I played around 1 hour battle mode in my life and I have all MK games.

I spent like 8 hours with MKDS' battle mode! ._.

I totally misunderstood what was said. I thought it meant that friends only matches weren't easily hosted. Like in only being able to enter a friends match by stumbling upon it online.

Rooting for it to reach 90 on Metacritic! Have any prominent sites not released their reviews yet? No matter, I already got my game pre-ordered from Target!
