What happen to actual theft of an idea. Meaning stealing the exact same idea some one else has not something similar. Thank you Zuckerberg and the Wicklevoss' for making this kind of lawsuit seem legit anytime someone invents something. Really why isnt Nintendo suing the Sony for the Move or Philips suing Sony? Or Zenith should come out of nowhere and sue Philips for making Color T.V.'s. Or Sony suing Memorex for coming out with a walkman or vice versa Memorex suing Sony for making blank tapes.

The patent was filed in 2009 and granted in 2013. The Wii came out in 2006...

So I read more about this.

Two patents in question.

1) First one describes the wiimote as well as ps move. However, it was filed in 2009. This has to be thrown out as Nintendo has patents, prior art as it existed since 2006, and a lot of legal history to prove their case.

2) Second one is from 1996 and it essentially describes a system that puts a virtual body of you in the game and tracks your movements. Reading this and it actually matches Kinect, not wiimote.

They are obviously trying to tie them together to counter all motion type controls, but its a rather weak argument that Nintendo has already won multiple times in court over its wiimote.

One person on GAF brought up an interesting point. Philips is a major player in the medical field. Nintendo is hinting at entering the medical field with the QOL platform. It seems rather interesting that Philips is doing this push now. Maybe they are taking a pre-emptive strike on Nintendo to keep them out out the medical markets.

I don't see any way Philips will win this. But I am interested in the QOL argument.
