Forums - Sales - Will X1 numbers slide in May, due to new Kinectless model in June?

We saw this happen during the PS3 era, when they announced a new model or the slim, you'd see a decline in sales leading up to the release of the new units.  The question I have is, should we expect to see the same thing happen in May and the first week of June?  The rest of June should be great for the X1 though, and will very likely make any sales dip between May and the release not as consequential.  I was just curious if people were expecting to see a drop?

Sales are already sliding because there is no games to play, which will make it difficult to assess the impact. I guess it will have a bit of an effect, but how significant is very hard to say

Sure, why not. Though it will not be noticeable since they would've gone down regardless.

Yeah, that's a good point, it's kind of a bummer they didn't drop the Xbox Live Gold stuff this month, to try and off-set any declines...and even maybe give a bit of a boost until the E3 hype train rolls around.

Hellz to the yes.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Sales will definitely go down in may... Many will mostly wait for june and get one for 399 after yesterday's announcement.

It will shock me to see it sell 50k each of the next 2 week remaining this month even in the US

Praise the One.

Amazon rankings for the $500 Standard Edition and Titanfall bundle haven't dropped since the introduction of the new Kinect-less SKU yesterday, in fact their rankings went up a little bit. I'm cautiously optimistic that May won't be much lower than April.

Oh cool, good thinking, guess I should've checked that first.

Sales will increase.

Mark my words.

Edit:

Reasons:

May sales will increse due to expectation that the Kinect standalone would probably cost about $150, so some will buy it know in expectation to a profit deal when the Kinectless SKU arrive.

Also the Titanfall bundle might be running its course, so the last to the party will try to enjoy the extra deal.

in USA yes, resto of the world? Maybe

The sales will definitely sink early May. The Watch Dogs release may make decrease slightly negligable.

All the same, I think there's a shot of XOne slumping to 3rd place May's NPD because of this.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
