Forums - Sales Discussion - Xbox one will catch up soon with PS4 and then outsell it in the USA

What the fuck... Can you show me the math you used to get 5%?

PS4 total sales in USA ->  3,455,752

X1 total sales in USA - > 2,889,663

Total between the two ->  6345415

X1/total = ~0.4556

That means X1 represent ~ 45 % while PS4 represents 55 % (marketshare wise between the two)

It's obviously a rather close difference.

Yes, few hundred thousand is a close difference... (if only you could see my face)

But let's be clear here, the difference between 55% and 45% is 10%, not 5%

Wow, you literally ignored my post from earlier that basically said the same thing. And no, the difference is not close at all.

It is close, it is by far domination from PS4 part, X1 is holding its own very well.

We all know Npd is 2-3 in favor of PS4 last months and worldwide its about 6-1 in sales 2014 last months.
Buy the better console PS4 or a PC for performance.

Hmmm 55-45% isn't 5% though.

Someone's math is kinda off here.

Prove to me that it's close. You can't. All you've been doing is repeating that same phrase over and over again. It is not close at all.

The gap is approximately 600k and it is virtually impossible for the X1 to outsell the PS4 in the US by the end of this year. The X1 has to outsell the PS4 by about 85.7k a month. The only time the X1 outsold the PS4 was last December, but the gap was so miniscule for that month and the PS4 was supply constrained at that time.

Also, time and time again, I've shown to you how the PS4 and X1 are doing in major retailers like Amazon and Gamestop. Despite the $399 SKU, the PS4 is outranking it by a lot in both retailers. The gap will just keep getting bigger and bigger to the point that the gap will be too big for the X1 to overcome. Not exactly "holding its own very well", is it? The situation will become a lot more dire when Destiny (and the bundle) comes out because Sony has exclusive advertising rights to the game and we all saw how that happened with Watch Dogs.

5 % increase in marketshare for X1, will bring it to 50 %, so it would be the same as PS4.

The gap is still 10% if it's a 45-55 split, not that the split will remain the same if the PS4 keeps outselling the X1 by more than 2 to 1.
