this is just proof that Microsoft wasnt happy with XB1 sales.

microsoft have reignited the 8th gen battle. this will be interesting, i wonder if Sony will give the PS4 a 50$ price cut this year now.

I doubt it.  Sony needs as much profit as possible right now.  They arent going to cut into margins unless the ps4 starts to drastically lose momentum.

They haven't been twiddling their thumbs away but they are apparently in development hell.

Multiple departures of key staff from Naughty Dog

Big layoffs and canceled new IP's at Sony Santa Monica

Lots of rumors that Uncharted 4 has had to be completly rebooted after Amy left.

All the delays surrounding Driveclub.

Sony has traditionally had some fantastic development and some of the best exclusive software in the industry but a lot of signs are pointing towards Sony not having the best of luck with transitioning their teams over to PS4 development.  All things considered The One has a better current list of software as well as upcoming software in my opinion. That could all change for sure, but after all the issues there has been in Sony's 1st party studios they need a VERY strong showing at this years E3 because I assure you MS is bringing the big guns.

multiple departures and cancelled IPs mean diddly squat.  Still more studios than your competitors means more 1st party titles in the long run.  least I heard, none of those studios were closing down..

You have to also look at who has already been utilized.

Sucker Punch JUST launched Infamous so don't expect a game from them soon

Uncharted is looking like its pretty far away considering the layoffs / very little info

Guerrilla put out Killzone only 6 months ago, and while I know they have another IP coming down the pipe it is most likely still at BEST a year away

Santa Monica just had a big chunk of staff layed off, one of their most important devs leave the company, and a big brand new IP canceled.

Now that isn't just doom and gloom for Sony by any means, and as I said they are traditionally very strong with software. They very well could come out and blow our socks off at E3 with tons of amazing reveals. That being said many of the big players seem to be quite a ways away from launching another game for the PS4.

Arrogant means that because they still have strong demand they think they are untouchable.  This is a fallacy.  Saying the PS4 has not changed implies that the console is not advancing and Sony is not trying to stay a step ahead of the competition.  We have a long way to go before either console is declared as a winner.

It does not matter what the market is today.  Both consoles will be on the market for a long time and values shift between consumers all the time.

These type of schoolboy tweets sound exactly that.  Its not well thought out and and a knee jerk reaction that might not get the response the person intended.  Think about it, as a gamer do you really care if the PS4 is the same since launch if you were on the fence for a purchase.

Define "winner".

I was talking about the sales to date, which is (mostly) available for everyone to see. I could not care less willy waving about silly console wars and who is "winning" the 'fight'.

Yes the tweet is a trollish and juvenille, but why do you care? Little sly jabs from one mega corporation to another isn't anything to get worked up over.

Translation for y'all : "Starting 09/06 : PS4 remains the same "

EDIT : here's the link

Sometimes tweets should be thought out more.  Saying the PS4 remains the same really isn't something to brag about.  It means the PS4 is not progressing or evolving but staying static while the competition is adding more value and incentives to the consumer.  That’s one of those arrogant tweets that made Sony look bad at the beginning of the PS3 era and does not sound good if Sony is smelling their success to much.

This is the reason why I like it when one or the other company plays catch up.  If both MS and Sony were doing great, neither would have incentive to do better or compete better.  I like it more when MS is the one playing catch up.  MS definitely is not good when they are the lead because of their history.  Sony really isn’t better but they are better than MS.

Or it could mean Sony released their system the way it was supposed to be from the beginning?  I mean.. MS only had to 180 everything they've said from last year up to now..  6mos of your console cycle life and already the xbone is completely different from what they've originally had in mind and how they've released it.  Also evolving and progressing just to match Sony's offering now isn't evolving or progressing at all.. it's playing catch up just so you don't get slaughtered so bad.

putting lipstick on a pig doesn't make the pig prettier..

If Sony released their system the way it was suppose to then they would not need all the patches since it launched.  As for 180s, I give more props to Sony for understanding the market, and doing a great PR campaign but when all the dust is settled, they are doing the exact same things as MS, its just they are better at giving gamers a focus on what they want to hear.

6mos how much is the X1 different from when release compared to how much Sony console has changed.

Also lets just keep the topic to the tweet not personal feelings.  I am saying making knee jerk post like that does not paint a good picture on Sony.  Anyone can infer a lot from such a simple post and sometimes is better to just be quite.  This is my point not going down the fanboy rant wars.

There was no "choice that helped PS4". Both PS4 and Xbox One only had one price point. I think you mean lack of choice.

Also, Microsoft aren't doing this to give players another choice, even though that is the end result. They're doing it for the same reason they reversed the DRM. Because pre order figures for PS4 went viral. And this time it's the overall sales of the Xbox One. Although personally I don't think Xbox One is in any kind of trouble at all.

Anyway, I think this is a great move, and will help boost sales for ppl who dont want Kinect. They shuould never have forced Kinect on people in the first place.
Whether MS believed in the Kinect or not, most people didn't. And with the NSA scandal, that just made things even worse.

The choice I referenced was the choice between a $400 console and a $500 console. That was a choice that favored the PS4. Now MS is giving you another choice with a second console that is $400. I think I meant exactly what I said.

Of course they're doing it to give people another choice. Which they want to spur sales. It's funny watching people try to downplay the choice side while harping on the sales side, as if they are not directly connected.

The PS4 needs to step up now with the games. You don't have the price advantage on your side anymore.

Nice! Good job microsoft. I got my one with titanfall and kinect in the uk for £370. So with just a £20 reduction and kinect-less i dont feel hard done by with the new deal either...

So people complain about Kinect being included for a whole year and then they remove and now people complain MS is giving up on Kinect? Their truly is no pleasing some of you guys. MS could give the Xbox One away for free and people would find something to complain about.

It probably isnt the same people Noble. Not everybody wanted MS to remove Kinect. There was a fair amount of people who thought Kinect was a key part of MS's strategy.
