Forums - Microsoft - Xbox ONE $399 (Kinectless) GOLD services confirmed Lots of info inside.

I'm surprised they announced it almost a month before it happens, X1 sales are gonna plummet for the next month.

Translation for y'all : "Starting 09/06 : PS4 remains the same "

No price drop then, Sony better bring some games because that high school talk isnt gonna work this E3

when has sony ever dropped the ball when it comes to games?

it's funny hearing from folks like yourself who thinks Sony never comes to play when it comes to games.  Historically, Sony's always brought a bigger and more diverse portfolio onto their platforms than what MS and Nintendo can ever offer.   Guess since the release of the ps4 all those 1st party studios Sony owns are just fiddling their thumbs away...

First years of the PS3 and E3 2013.

hrrmmm.....DRM was "integral to the Xbox One experience" and when asked to get rid of it, Major Nelson said "we can't just flip a switch". They pulled a 180 on that one

Now, they said "we have no plans to remove the Kinect" and "Kinect is integral to Xbox One experience". They pulled a 180 again.

They've come full circle so, the Xbox One is really....the Xbox 360?? Then $399 is ridiculous! You can get an Xbox 360 for $179!

Jokes aside, no one cares about Kinect and it hasn't been meaningfully used in games. I don't think anybody (who's an Xbox fan) is really mad about this move...maybe they're trying to save face for defending Kinect in the past. Did you all really want the Kinect to stay in and watch as sales continue to drop to pre-Titanfall levels, resulting in the XBone being eclipsed by the PS4 and thus lose out on many big games in the long run? I don't think so. If people still want Kinect, they can get it. But if XBone sales skyrocket, it'll show that people really didn't want Kinect and for you to say it's a dumb move and that Kinect should stay would put you in a very very small minority

They haven't been twiddling their thumbs away but they are apparently in development hell.

Multiple departures of key staff from Naughty Dog

Big layoffs and canceled new IP's at Sony Santa Monica

Lots of rumors that Uncharted 4 has had to be completly rebooted after Amy left.

All the delays surrounding Driveclub.

Sony has traditionally had some fantastic development and some of the best exclusive software in the industry but a lot of signs are pointing towards Sony not having the best of luck with transitioning their teams over to PS4 development.  All things considered The One has a better current list of software as well as upcoming software in my opinion. That could all change for sure, but after all the issues there has been in Sony's 1st party studios they need a VERY strong showing at this years E3 because I assure you MS is bringing the big guns.

EDIT : here's the link

Sometimes tweats should be thought out more.  Saying the PS4 remains the same really isn't something to brag about.  It means the PS4 is not progressing or evolving but staying static while the competition is adding more value and incentives to the consumer.  Thats one of those arogant tweats that made Sony look bad at the beginning of the PS3 era and does not sound good if Sony is smelling their success to much.

How exactly are they arrogant? There's still stong demand for the PS4 in most parts of the world, so no need for Sony to drop the price if people are happy paying for it.

Microsoft are having a harder time selling Xbox Ones, hence price drops and introduction of a new SKU, minus Kinect.

Arrogant means that because they still have strong demand they think they are untouchable.  This is a fallacy.  Saying the PS4 has not changed implies that the console is not advancing and Sony is not trying to stay a step ahead of the competition.  We have a long way to go before either console is declared as a winner.

It does not matter what the market is today.  Both consoles will be on the market for a long time and values shift between consumers all the time.

These type of schoolboy tweets sound exactly that.  Its not well thought out and and a knee jerk reaction that might not get the response the person intended.  Think about it, as a gamer do you really care if the PS4 is the same since launch if you were on the fence for a purchase.

this is just proof that Microsoft wasnt happy with XB1 sales.

microsoft have reignited the 8th gen battle. this will be interesting, i wonder if Sony will give the PS4 a 50$ price cut this year now.

I don't think so. PS4 is still doing great and its making Sony lots of money. Maybe if the PS4 has a big drop in sales because of this we would see a price drop, but I doubt it. The PS4 is more powerful and so is still better value console than the X1.

and how is that relevant to their overall offerings for the life of the console?  Isn't it console fanboys like yourself who likes to tract and retract the old saying "it's not a sprint but a marathon?"  its almost guaranteed when all is said and done sony will still have more titles available for the ps4 than ms for the x1.  And not only more titles.. but better exclusives.  Most of their 1st party studios have a track record that can prove it..

Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..

Free games and discounts with GOLD, now I am happy. I will play Max and Spartan as soon as it is free, and looking foward for the discounts too. Great move MS, I liked!

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

multiple departures and cancelled IPs mean diddly squat.  Still more studios than your competitors means more 1st party titles in the long run.  least I heard, none of those studios were closing down..  Also.. MS's big guns since when?  Everyone of their Hit titles came from money hatting 3rd party studios..

I'm happy to see them not be stubborn and actually offer what fans want. It sucks that it took them this long, but this is why they dont allow monopolies... without Sony's offerings to try and beat Microsoft, they probably would never have made these changes.

Glad to see them catering to their customers and I'm excited to see if these changes can even out the sales (at least in the US).
