I think that there will probably be DLC for Mario Kart 8, but wouldn't it be cool if one of the DLC Cups was a "Balloon Cup" with four retro tracks from Diddy Kong Racing and Diddy Kong as a DLC character? It would be cool, feel like extra, and make sense in the world of Mario Kart! Plus Diddy Kong Racing was amazing.

Any other ideas for cool Mario Kart 8 DLC?

Now I remembered that the new volcano track reminds me of Hot Top Volcano, music and all.

I think if they do a DLC cup, it would be cool if they borrowed an idea from Sonic Lost World, and had one track based on Zelda, one based on Kirby, maybe one for Pokemon, etc. I don't need to have Link driving a Wiggler Car or whatever, but racing through Hyrule Field would be cool.

Do you know what it means if nintendo actually goes legit with DLC?  It would be the dream Mario Kart game with every level ever created.  I would buy all of them and I think i'm not the only one who would.  Hella expensive tho.  Worth.

Yeah, I definitely think it's a good idea. It'd be insanely popular. I do also kind of want some retro track from previous Mario Karts as well, but if I had to choose, I'd actually rather have the Diddy courses than any more retro MK courses. I feel like even if Nintendo wanted to, it'd be hard to pull off though, because last time they made a Diddy Kong Racing game on the DS, they had to go through Microsoft to get Rare to work on it. If they could though, imagine going through the courses that required a hovercraft underwater, or going through the lava courses that required an airplane along the walls and ceiling?

Eh. That would feel weird. Diddy Kong Racing fits Mario Kart because he is a Mario Character by extension. They're under the same universe. Then again, that's what DLC is for, I guess. I'd rather something like an F-Zero cup, as it's a Nintendo racing game with antigravity. Lol, the horror.

With the Diddy Cup, it would be cool if they had the balloons to give you items as well. Like the Red Balloons only give you Green, Red, and Blue Shells (attack items), the Blue Balloon only gives Mushroom, triple mushroom, and golden mushroom (speed boost items), etc. 

I'm pretty sure Rare owns the rights to Diddy Kong Racing, but not the characters, meaning they can't make a sequel to the Xbox One or something

It would be interesting. But, if theres rights issues, they can just aswell just make new tracks.

I was thinking two cups with completely new tracks. And two "retro" cups. One with enhanced Diddy Kong Racing tracks, and one with F-Zero tracks. Since the tracks wouldn't be identical, I feel like there shouldn't be an issue. Kind of like with the DKC Returns series.

Not a bad idea; would be surprised if it's implemented though unfortunately.
