Forums - Nintendo - Why the Wii U is the worst Nintendo console of all time (Gamecube comparison)

No gamecube had the worst 3rd party. At the time third party imo was the worst it's ever been, but the wii u has some great ones. Ubisoft and Sega are keeping with them and it still has some games from EA and activision. Plus what first party is turning into for me is if the new Ip everyone keeps talking about. If that IP beats pikmin and animal crossing then wii u wins that category also.

Sorry if I sound angry I'm just counteracting your points you can believe whatever you want to believe.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.

Err, what!? The Gamecube is absolute garbage compared to the Wii U! Vastly inferior graphics, no online play, no backwards compatibility, no multimedia features, less controller options, no eShop, no off TV play, poor design, no free game included, and so ons!

I don't think online play was a standard at the time. At least not the standard set by the PS3/360. Backwards compatibility is often dismissed as a de minimis factor.

And multimedia? Yes it's a standard today but also a debatable de minimis factor at the time because the GC was a pure gaming machine.

WiiU is the best system this gen so far sales be damned. Loaded with great games. Gamepad is the greatest feature I have had since VMU in Dreamcast and Dreamcast is the best console ever.So the WiiU has sales like DC or even worse but I am finding it every bit as awesome and fun.

When I get a PS4 will like it as I always do with Sony systems but WiiU is amazing and people who hate it buy into media brainwashing.

Doesn't matter if it wasn't a standard at the time, it's a standard now! Even if it wasn't, online play beats no online play any day of the week! Same for backwards compatibility and multimedia!

This post is ridiculous. Really posting the price difference? Not like a dollar was worth more back then right?? Also, basing one of your points off what you think will happen in terms of first party games? Such a ludicrous argument.

Wii U is worst commercially, but personally I like Wii U more than the Wii. Motion controls were a great gimmick to expand the market for a time, but I generally disliked motion control implementations in games.

Wii graphics were more of an eye sore, as we were playing SD on HDTV. Now we have HD on HDTV, the difference between Wii U & PSX41 is more of effects and realism than resolution mismatch.

The Wii U game pad is something you have to play with to appreciate.  It's common to dislike it at first sight, and then like it after you play with it an extended time.  I have no issue with it as a controller, and the offscreen play comes in quite handy sometimes when someone is using the TV or I want to move around the house.

My 8th gen collection

Good thing that the worst Nintendo console is still a good console. :P

seriously though... these kinds of comparisons are not to be made until the system ends its life. Who knows what the future holds?

GC's controller was far from standard. Hell, the Wii U gamepad is more standard than it was, so I don't see your complaint there.

I actually kind of agree with your other points, though. From the looks of things, Nintendo's first party output this gen actually will be less than it was for the GC, and third party support is already even more dismal than GC's as well.

I still can't understand how Ninty could launch the Gamecube at such a ridiculously low price without taking major losses. Whatever their secret was, they clearly forgot it with the Wii U - they're definitely asking for a lot of dough for what you get.

Oh man. I was so close to buying a gamecube when i tried a smash bros demo at a store. Back then i had enough in just a ps2 though

Yeah and Superman 64 was a way better game than any Nes game ever released because it had better graphics and was in 3D! Oh, and you could also fly!
