Forums - Sony - Driveclub upgrade wont vanish if ps+ ends

The Fury said:
Hold on, if you had the PS+ version and upgraded to the full version like you were buying the game essentially, they were originally going to stop you having the full version when your PS+ ran out? That just sounds too stupid for words.

Or was this an assumption by idiots blown up?

Nope watch the trailer they launched yesterday, the clearly explain this is how they wanted it to work.

afaik an evolution dev made a post that read like you'd lose access even to the upgraded version, but as devs don't handle that side of the business I still had hope that was a mistake/miscommunication

it would have been a bad move/signal by Sony, so I'm happy it's not going to happen

I would have thought that it would be based on the same way people buy games now from the store. If I play a free demo and then upgrade to the full game I don't lose access to that full game, it's mine. Same as if I bought it straight away.

I've never done this but what about PS+ now? You get a game free on PS+ and knowing you will not extend your subscription, you buy a game you really enjoyed. Then when your subscription ends, surely the game doesn't just stop working as you have a non-PS+ licence.

The upgrade to the full game should be considered a normal licence not a PS+ licence, which are different things.

....

Alas, at least it's been sorted.

Hmm, pie.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

"Trick shot? The trick is NOT to get shot." - Lucian

"Our priority for DRIVECLUB is to enable you to play and enjoy everything it has to offer and PlayStation recognises that the prior plan for DRIVECLUB entitlement for the upgrade to the PS Plus edition was not appropriate. As a result, we have adjusted the PlayStation Plus terms for DRIVECLUB.

Now, If you intend on downloading DRIVECLUB PlayStation Plus Edition, and upgrading to the full game experience, you will have access to the full game even if your PlayStation Plus subscription runs out."

Someone at Sony get Chris Brown a spell-checker. He's pretty bad at spelling.

Reading that original blog post, though, the way some people behaved is embarrassing. Plenty of people complained in an appropriate manner but there were too many who ranted and raved as though they were kids who just had a toy taken away--which I suppose might be the case with some of them. Dealing with the public on the internet has to be a horrible job.

And this, people, is why complaining about these things is good.
