For US$200,00 what would you estimate in sales for the next 6 years?

And of course it would eventually hit U$100,00 in this scenaro after a long time.

I would believe 110M is achievable.

Wouldn't that be completely defeating the purpose of PSNow?

Not completely, since you can't play PS3 games in other place that isn't PS3 right now, or PS4 games for that matter. PS1 games are still compatible with all consoles (not sure about PS4, would have to test). And PSNow won't be available in most of the places PS3 would sell good during PS4 lifetime.

I'd buy one.

95 million tops is where I see the PS3 stopping at even with full PS2 backward capability.

Bets:

1. If the Wii U sells closer to 10 million LTD by 1/3/2015 I win. If it sells closer to 9.5 million LTD by 1/3/2015 OfficerRaichu15 wins (winner gets 2 weeks of avatar control)--Lost.

Full backward compatibility would require Sony to manufacture more of those PS2 CPU and GPU chips. Hence, that would make the console more expensive.

Software based backwards compatibility would be cheaper. Sony has a PS2 emulator that apparently supports most games, but they only allow people to use it for PS2 Classics purchases.

You just killed my heart there (altough I don't own any original PS1 disc and have just 5 or 6 PS2 discs, I was poor at the time).

Don't know how much would it really cost to make the chips and embeded in PS3, or even integrate it in the new revision. But returning software emulation would be a plus.

And I didn't said they wiill release. Just what would people expect it to sell if Sony released.

The purpose of PSNow is to play PS3 games on devices that are not the PS3. So no.

OT That would be a great machine to sell in china :)
