Developer Techland has announced that the delay will give it time to perfect Dying Light's 'Natural Movement', which is intended to give players significant freedom of movement across the game's open world.

"We believe the Natural Movement element of our game will change what you expect from the genre, and we don't want to sacrifice any of its potential by releasing too early," Techland said. "This quality-focused thinking underlines all our development choices and we hope you share our belief that the gameplay must always come first."

Dying Light is planned for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Techland is also working on first-person hack-and-slasher Hellraid, which was delayed to 2015 earlier this month.

Techland added that it plans to reveal more of Dying Lights' features and gameplay elements starting at E3 2014 next month.

This is one of my most anticipated games, and I'm actually glad it's been postponed. It will give them more time to make it good, and me more time to clear my backlog :)
