VentureBeat is Predicting Nintendo will Announce a “Netflix” like Subscription for Wii U Virtual Console Games

Nintendo has a lot of big games planned for E3 2014. But one thing that is a bit of a mystery is how Nintendo is going to leverage their Virtual Console. Venture Beat writer Mike Minotti thinks Nintendo will unveil a Netflix like subscription model for Wii U Virtual Console games.

“While the Virtual Console enables gamers to individually buy and play retro games, Nintendo can take advantage of its giant library and create the Netflix of gaming. A new Virtual Console could enable Wii U owners to stream and instantly play any of hundreds of Nintendo Entertainment System, Super Nintendo, and Nintendo 64 games. Who wouldn’t pay $10 a month for that?”

given the chance I would surely jump on board with this, and since there trying there best to maintain a profit. This could possible happen

So copying PS Now, without the full console games?

edit: LOL, its just a prediction, not even a rumor

You mean a "Playstation Now" like subscription? ;)

They would probably wait to see how PS Now performs before investing in something like this.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

The rumor thing should be in the beginning and not in the end imo

And I doubt that

I agree with Arcturus it sounds more like Playstation Now.

We have all been saying they should do this for ages, this isnt anything new

$10/mo would be too much for that.

However, IF Nintendo would finalize their account system to be 100% unified where VC games bought on WiiU were also playable on 3DS (i.e. one game bought to play on both) then yes a Netflix like system would be awesome and a great way for hem to monetize their online system similar to MSony.

Basically, Nintendo could offer a premium online system similar to MSony, but to do so they have to mature their NNID system to the point where some games were bought once, play anywhere. VC is the perfect scenario for that. I'd buy into it if I could access my VC content on any Nintendo device going forward.

More like sega channel, if the sega channel could only access master system games.

I doubt Nintendo will copy PS Now - which is why I think this rumor is hogwash.
