EA and Ubisoft have their own separate conferences. I'm positively sure they will announce first the games bolded above, leaving Sony with nothing new to show about them. EA/Ubisoft could unveil the trailer at their conference, while Sony shows the gameplay, touts the PS4 as the best experience, shows alluring exclusive content, etc.

Battlefield was shown at MS's confrence last year. E3 2012 FarCry 3 was shown at Sony's confrence. Assassins creed is always shown at sony's confrence and Destiny is confirmed for a Sony confrence this year.

my point is that even publishers who have their own show usually show or announce their games at platform holders confrences because they are hyped more and viewed more. it also means extra publicity for their games.

Sony is the one hyping multiplatform games. because lets be honest, they are the main reason both consoles sell. you think any exclusive this year will boost console sales as much as Destiny will boost PS4? there wont be.

Assassins Creed, FarCry4, Battlefield and Destiny will all likely be present at the show. whoever thinks that these wont be the major console movers for these two systems this year are very mistaken.

Honestly, I think devs/publishers are showcasing their multiplatform games on Playstation hardware, because it gives them the best performance to showcase their game?  As far as exclusives, not too many have been announced thus far.  However, I would say that a steady stream of hype has been coming for Driveclub.

As far as Destiny?  Who knows.  We'll have to wait and see when it launches.  But, my point is, Sony doesn't have to advertise these games nearly as hard, because the developers want to, on Sony's hardware, regardless of what Sony chooses to do.  The PS4 is going to be the standard bearer for all shown multi-plat games, because...well, devs want to put their best foot forward.  We saw this last gen with the 360 while everyone was struggling to figure out the PS3's design.  Then, later in the gen, it started going the other way, because yes, the PS3 was indeed marginally more powerful than the 360.

I never once said, not once, that multi-plat games won't move hardware.  I said that last gen's paradigm of Microsoft's hardware outperforming Sony's, causing MP games to look better on the 360, no longer applies, and will simply not apply this gen. So whatever MP games they showcase is merely doing Sony a favor.  Will Sony show MP games at their conference, of course, will Microsoft, of course.  It still won't help Microsoft like it did last gen.  It allows Sony to be a bit more free with the games they show at their conference, by which I mean, they won't have to drive home why getting it on the PS4 is the better option, because the vast majority of people know why, and the devs are constantly asked by the media which hardware performs better.  In this sense, this gen will be allot like last gen in reverse.  Microsoft will have to look inward and starting really encouraging their devs to get creative and explore the hardware they have (like Naughty Dog, for example).  To create compelling IP/franchises that they can create excitement about.

Focusing on multi-plats just won't carry as much weight for them, as it once did.

Great post. people forget that third party made it this far thanks to the PS, not the other way around. EA, Activisuon, Square, Ubi, Namco, Konami, Take Two/Rockstar and Capcom etc ...all got bigger when the PSX released. Games like FF and MG were not house hold names globally. Madden was not as popular and Capcom was only known for fighting games.

As for the bold, MS really needed to do that last year, but chose to fous on Kinect which has bacfired now. I don't think they can just do it now having never had the first paty pedigree of Sony and only having success due to thrid party games. They will just keep throwing money at exclsuive DLC like before. Sony just needs to release some of their many exclusive franchises since they have more than 3-4 that are successful. There is already ore to look forward to on PS4 than XboxOne.

I don't really think they have a choice right now.  And if they ignore the immediate past, with regards to how the PS3 faired early on...then they are asking for even more distress.  Hopefully Microsoft will learn this lesson soon.  Even though I'm a Sony fan, I know full well that competition pushes everyone to do their best.

Resogun DLC Heroes announced!

http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/06/09/introducing-resogunas-all-new-dlc-heroes

I say all the time that Resogun – the brilliant arcade shooter from Finnish developer Housemarque – remains PlayStation 4’s single best game. Some folks may not agree, but I’m hard-pressed to think of a game on the PS4 that shares its addictive, skill-based qualities and fine-tuned gameplay. Either way, as a PlayStation 4-exclusive launch game, Resogun is in need of a fresh coat of paint, and with the upcoming Heroes DLC, it’s about to get just that.

In short, Resogun’s Heroes DLC contains two new modes and an all-new patch. Unfortunately, I’m not allowed to reveal to you the nature of the patch or one of the modes – at least, not yet -- but I can tell you about the other mode: Survival. Survival Mode revives Resogun’s superb gameplay – gun-shooting, ship-boosting, bomb-laying and all -- but puts an all-new spin on things that makes chasing high scores as much of a necessity as ever. It also makes the entire game a bit more tense, too, since you only have one life to live, and one life only.

Survival Mode isn’t simply a basic overlay of the Resogun experience you already know and love. While it plays just like Resogun at a basic level, Survival Mode comes toting a series of new bells and whistles that gives it its own unique, dynamic flair. There are new graphical nuances and flourishes, fresh sound effects, different item icons, and even a new soundtrack. Oh, and there's a slate of new enemies to do battle with, too.

The biggest change between classic Resogun and its Survival Mode DLC, however, is that while Resogun feels the same, the rules of the game have fundamentally changed. In addition to only having one life to life, Survival Mode draws you along by daring you to complete full in-game day/night cycles to progress. The more of these cycles you complete, the higher your score will become, but of course, this comes at the sake of ever-intensifying combat that quickly becomes super busy and overwhelming. It provides for an awesome challenge, one that I sense will get lapsed Resogun players back into the mix.

Another fundamental rule change – one that alters the way the game is played – is that the appearance of little green humans is much more common in Survival Mode than in the standard game, and you no longer need to pick them up and drop them off to earn points. Now, humans fall with regularity from the top of the screen, and they’re affixed to parachutes to steady and slow their descent. More humans can be drawn out by killing certain enemies or achieving certain combos, and merely grabbing them before they escape or perish will up your score significantly. No drop-offs necessary.

Resogun’s Survival Mode – along with its mysterious other new mode and patch -- will be available in the near future at a still undisclosed price. And yes, you’ll have new Trophies to earn, too!
