Never played the first two, but the trailer for Mafia 3 certainly didn't make me interested.

I liked Mafia 2, but not as much as the original Mafia. Sure, gameplay and graphics haven't aged well, but the story, the atmosphere and the setting that makes me like the game more and more. But Mafia 3 character does seem a bit generic, but I wouldn't mind to see him interacting with the mafia from the 1970's.

i still dont get why he is black. dont get me wrong, i really do wish we would see more diversity in main characters and games breaking out of the generic model like white dude main character. but being black doesnt make much sense in this setting, considering its about italian mafia. right? the game still looks interesting dont get me wrong. but i feel the character was made black more as a PR or marketing stunt, not because being black fits the vision of the game or accuratly fits the setting. 

i dont have a problem with it, it just does make me say "huh"? a bit. it would be like making a prince of persia game with a white and red haired protagonist. something just feels off.
