Guys, I just got my PS4. Is there really no way to pause a download? I'm worried if I turn it off when a download is happening it may corrupt the file. Also, the media player sux its so strict with the video formats lol

You will find (upvoted) comments of that nature in pretty much any of those threads, r/xboxone's behaviour in any RoTR thread really has been an utter embarrassement, almost as bad as their behaviour in all the threads "proving that MS won E3"

The more I think about the deal, the less sense any of it makes sense.  For a marketing deal return, some extra DLC and an exclusive tomb would surely be a better positive than locking out the other platform.  It would also let them maximise sales on PS4 and PC at the full price.  If talk of $50m dollars is true, on CDs side, they will no doubt lose that in sales over how everything is handled.  Microsoft fans should be up in arms that they haven't used that money to make a new game to rival Horizon.  I have lost any hype for TR2, and I've been a lifelong fan, and have an XB1.  Next holiday? Against probably GT7, Horizon, Last Guardian, Mass Effect 4 and whatever other games will come out?  I will be amazed to switch on my PS4 and see a single soul playing it honestly, maybe when it hits the $20 mark.  This early announcement has killed hype on XB1 side too, all talk i hear there is about Rare replay, Halo 5 and the likes of Cuphead.

You can pause downloads. In the download list, I think you press options X and then individually pause that download. But you don't need to worry about corrupting your downloads. I have turned off my PS4 many, many times while downloading something, and there haven't been any complications.

The media player is a bit limited, yeah, but a lot of that is because certain formats are proprietary. WMV, for example, is owned by Microsoft. You can convert file formats pretty easily on your PC on the internet, but it still is a bit of a hastle.

Edit: Just checked. You don't press options on the download list, you simply press X on whichever file is downloading to pause it.

If you open up the downloads section, at the far left is a little symbol to pause and restart.  If you switch off it will auto pause.  Easier to put the system in rest mode though, where it will be finished when you switch it back on.  All talk of the media player, was that they couldn't get the DRM licenses they wanted to put into the final player, so this is a placeholder till that happens.  As it stands it is a bit sucky, so yay for Spotify running in the background.
