Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Eurogamer confirms: Mario Kart 8 is 1080p/60FPS (even in 2-player)

I'm not sure why everyone is losing their minds about this. Beyond the resolution and framerate, the games graphics are really nothing to write home about. They're very cartoony with little detail, and I would be surprised if a system that came out less than 2 years ago could NOT run them at their fullest. Until the system can run a game like inFamous: SS in 1080p at 60 FPS, I'm really not impressed. People should be more focused on whether or not the title lives up to the Mario Kart name.

Again with this? I must applaud such tenacity. But regardless of what you think or say, MK8 is a highly detailed and graphically intensive game. EVERYTHING in the game is perfectly/almost perfectly done: Poly count, textures quality, animation, scale, draw distance, resolution, framerate... and all a big step from any 7th gen game.

And a hint for the next time you use the "cartoony" argument: the difference between a cartoony and a realistic game is how the game looks. in terms of graphics, both use the same stuff and either side can be more intensive. ex: tlou is much more graphicaly intensive than super mario galaxy but MK8 is much more intensive than tlou.

For a console that came out 6 years after the other, the difference is very small in terms of performance and overall detail. Problem is the games are almost completely different, so a valid comparison is kindof impossible.

It's ok not like Nintendo, but do you really believe this?

WiiU owns PS4 and Xbox1 :D

it will be 720p. Nintendo made Smash 1080p because its a static game and it uses Wii Brawl engine.
MK8 uses a new engine which allows for greater effects but in no way we will see such detailed and full of Fx visuals in 1080p 60fps

So most wiiu games run in 1080p and most xbone games can't do 1080p this is funny to me

Most? The only ones I know of are Zelda HD, a remake that's only 30fps, and Smash Bros.

Of course it is! We knew that just from seeing the very first trailer!

Speaking of tenacity, you're delirious if you think that MK8 looks better than TLOU.

It's 720p no AA, on every single framebuffer grab, but 60fps for sure.
