I think we mock tape as a old technology that takes a long time to rewind, but when you can fit the contents of a double layer Blu-ray on 3 inches of tape, then re-winding the tape wouldn't be such an issue

Wow! Sony is still bleeding money, yet they continue to innovate! Sony will bounce back. As for this product: amazing! Even archival blu ray doesn't compare to this. It is kind of heart warming. I grew up with tapes.

As we are talking about a proprietary solution by Sony, it will most likely not reduce costs.
Aside from price, companies want
- reliability
- speed
- very long durable
storage solutions aside from only size. And a cheap one, of course.
