If you put an HD movie on a DVD it would run in 1080p, but you could only fit about an hour of content on, so you would only get half a movie.

1.- You can stored HD media in almost any physical storage (but floppies of course), but the size of the physical media is just not enough to store a full HD movie, you are very limited...

2.- Thats the purpouse of the HD-DVD and the Blu-ray, enough capacity for full HD movie/media...

3.- Again the rendering proccess of a game, is not the same as the rendering proccess of a HD movie... since the HD-DVD is not supported by regulars DVD-Readers, you need an atachtment to watch this movies in the 360...

A game has an engine that effectively just reads a bunch of information in it's barest most compressed form and puts it together as it goes along.

A movie already has all of this information pieced together in an uncompressed format.
