I own a PS3, mostly for exclusives and JRPGs. Pretty handy DVD/Blu-ray player too.
I don't play online multiplayer very much, and there aren't very many Western multiplatform games that I've very passionate about, but I usually decide on a case by case basis which system I'll get a game on. In the case of Wii U/PS3, I'd likely get it for the Wii U if it's a digital game, since I have a healthier collection of digital/VC games on that platform. It's nice to keep everything in one place. If the Wii U game is missing crucial elements, or if's something that benefits from playing online, I usually pick the PS3 version of the game.
Club Nintendo points are a small factor too. Need those coins!
