Am I the only one who just can't figure out how Nintendo even has a small chance of posting a profit for their FY 2015??? I mean, 3ds sales will decline even further and wiiU won't do much.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

I have a hard time believing the Wii-U is still sold at a loss. The hardware really shouldn't be so expensive. If true though the Wii-U might be  a bigger design/pricing fiasco then the ps3 when it first launched

Hardly; PS3 was losing an estimated $241-$307 per unit at launch.

Nintendo still has a lot of money in the bank but they shouldn't make a habit of having a loss every quarter.

Not anymore. Among that $8 billion assets they had around $4 billion as hard cash. Rest were assets. They are burning those cash pretty fast.

R & D for new hardware wont be cheap.

I'd be pleasantly surprised if they don't post an operational profit in FY2015.

3DS HW and Wii U HW shipments should be 9 and 4.5 million respectively in FY2015.

Furthermore, software sales should be at 70 million and 25 million for 3DS and Wii U respectively.

I'd even wager that Q1 FY2015 will be profitable.

However, overall I'm expecting an operational profit of 250 million in FY2015.

A further emphasis on licensing commitments and downloadable software will be important for their operational profit and they have been doing just that. In the span of less than two months partnerships have emerged with Google, Penzoil, Callaway, and Adidas amonsgt many. In addition, Nintendo have been pushing F2P content and DLC. They are not playing this year and the please understand moto is not going to cut it.

This will be interesting.

Yep.
