Yeah I don't have much faith in it being next gen only :-/ 

Originally I thought that Acti will surely go with cross gen CoDs till at least 2015, but last gen sales are in a dumpster way deeper than I imagined they will be, even though the big mainstream games still sell a lot on them. And then Slegdehammer was announced as the dev of the next CoD, and I think they are a smaller Acti dev, as they only helped with CoDs until now.

So there is a glimpse of hope it's next gen only based on the above, and the screenshots look good graphically, but it's a very slim glimmer.



So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

I hope you're right. I thought MW3 was meh and Ghosts was garbage so I was planning on only getting the Treyarch games from now on. But a week-long COD binge is something I'm used to doing annually, so I'm not sure I could wait 3 years every time :P let's hope Sledgehammer proves themselves this time around.

Looks quite like Crysis 3 on PC, maybe a little worse.

Looks good. I just hope the multiplayer gameplay is more BLops2 and less Ghosts. Also, I enjoy modern settings.

Probably in-house, Activision has been working on next-gen tech for awhile:

OP, might wanna update with this official video about the new game from the Call of Duty channel.

It seems the setting of the next COD will be focused around private military corporations and you won't be fighting any specific countries. It certainly sounds very interesting to me and rather Metal Gear-ish.
