Was "cleaning out the fridge" yesterday to make room for Child of Light and have the same feeling. I barely allow myself to buy a game at $60, let alone an accessory, but obviously I'm in need. Of course, the question is whether to get WiiU Party, a game I have almost no interest in but don't have, or to double down on one I already do for the convenience of loading straight from the Gamepad.
One thing is for certain, though: This is a brilliant promotion for Nintendo. They basically are ensuring that MKWii has a great launch, they're encouraging users to head toward the digital download model, and they're probably tipping just about everyone who doesn't already own an external harddrive to make the leap. That's certainly going to make future "on the fence" purchases a little easier the next time.
I also like the way this Nintendo Direct went down: No warning/No Hype. I also like that by the time E3 rolls around almost every bit of news will be new. Nintendo could have easily let this title slip into E3 and presented this material then (not without a collective internet groan, of course).
