Forums - Sony - Driveclub runs at 1080p 30fps

In such game, most people look for more realism than on old gen, a huge gap, and they are right, you want, in such game, 60fps is just not more important than realism, so yes high realism fidelity ( including real time effects in the world and high graphic) justifies 30fps.

You say that as if PS4 can't do both.

60fps gameplay > eye candy that doesn't affect gameplay. PS4 is fully capable of beautiful graphics at 1080/60fps.

First, cut the damn quote trees, guys. The rule is 3 max.

Curl, you know better than this. Do you expect games like The Witcher 3 to run in 1080p@60fps on the PS4? In any case, the argument that frame rate affects gameplay that much is ludicrous. There are plenty of games running at 30fps that have very compelling gameplay. Xenoblade, for example... Is it a bad game because it doesn't run at 60fps? What about the next X game? Will the gameplay be less enjoyable if it doesn't run at 60fps? Nope. The options you'll have will be the same. In most game types, including arcade racers, 60fps brings more eye candy... Not more compelling gameplay. -__-

60fps isn't such a big deal in a slow moving game like Witcher, I expect those kinds of games to be 30fps. It's more prominent in a fast-moving racer though. If Nintendo announced that that a new Wii U F-Zero would be 30fps for example, that would be a bitter pill.

You say that as if PS4 had no limits, even the current PC has limits, it's silly, there is a whole world between driveclub and last gen race game, so ask 60fps to such game is nonsens, even more expensive PC struggle to reach 60fps with such game. It's even more silly to ask to a console to do it when you never asked before , i ask again, where were you when PGR,NFS, F:Horison released ? I dont think you were trol...saying stuff like " it cant do both ?", no, you choose between all the power in realism or split between realism and framerate, and like i said, realism is more important for race game so...

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Name me one racing game that is badly affected by a locked 30fps frame rate. Please. I'm all ears.

PS4 can do realism at 1080p/60fps. Of course it has limits, but they're not that bad.

Recent Need for Speed games, I'd say.

Really? How did the frame rate affect the gameplay? Was it locked at 30fps? What happened exactly? How did it impede the gameplay, the controls, the features of the games?

30fps simply feels less responsive than 60fps because of half as many updates per second. It's not game breaking or anything, but given the choice, 60fps is always the better choice in my view.

You would complain even if it was 60 fps. Obviously you don't want any racer to overshadow your dear Mario Kart 8.
