Forums - Gaming - Bungie Explain Why Destiny Won't be on PC at Launch

Translation: PC is not as viable as consoles so we don't care about it as much. As soon as we get the billions from the consoles we can start working on the PC port.

"Won't be on PC at launch" means "I won't be parting with my cash on the game at launch".

As for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, it is true, they are low-end PC's... But the software and advanced programmable interface's are extremely different, for instance despite PC's running Linux or MacOS a ton of work has to go into games to port them from Windows to those platforms.

They're missing out on a big market though with lots of cash, PC gaming is larger than all the next-gen consoles combined currently.

There is probably gonna be launch issues for this game, I can't even remember the last big online only game that had a smooth launch.  Wouldn't be surprised if we have another Diablo or Simcity situation.

Dear Bungie,
Give us Halo 3 on PC.

Translate: They want to maximize the $60 sales. If they release on PC at same time, a lot of PC+console gamers will choose the PC for better price and graphics and their profit will shrink.

It's basically what Rockstar made with GTA V.They forced people on the $60 tag and when they finish to suck dry the console gamers they will release the game of the year edition(with all dlc and updates) on PC/curent gen/nextgen with a $60 price again.PC gamer will not buy with the excuse that "it's an old game"(they would wait steam sales anyway) and then Rockstar will say "see?! this is why we don't support PC!".

You have higher profits on the PC.
There is no massive Sony/Microsoft/Nintendo tax to pay for, which last time I checked was roughly 30%?
Then you need to pay to release patches and DLC etc'.

Sorry but i don't belive it! If it was true they(third parties) would never make games exclusively for consoles or delayed for PC like it's very common these days.Maybe PC is a more profitable platform for indies but for AAA i seriously doubt.

You get exclusives on all platforms, the PC sure has them, even mobile phone platforms have them, deals are made for that to happen.

Blizzard Entertainment for instance only sells games via Brick-and-Motar and via it's own website on the PC for a good reason. (Valve also takes a cut of the sales to release games on Steam, but you have a choice not to at-least.)

It's true. Overall you do make less money on PC, since AAA titles tend to sell less copies on PC vs consoles, but you do make more money on each game sold ^^
