This should put an end to the speculation that "winter 2014" could mean some time in 2015.  Smash Bros. is coming to Wii U in 2014.

Not exactly a mistake. A lot of folks will buy both because there's differences between the two. There's also a good many who couldn't care less about the 3DS version and will wait for the WiiU version to arrive.

I think whether or not it proves to be a mistake or not will depend on how fans will react if there's separate or unified smash power rankings.
