Its A....

Major Success 26 14.21%

Success 70 38.25%

Neutral 39 21.31%

Failure 34 18.58%

Major Failure 14 7.65%

Hi new here
Nintendo losed half of the userbase of NDS
because those people are playing with their tablets right now
But, it is not a success to sell 50 millions even in todays market
they got people who get paid to counteract the market trends
last year they made an amazing job, but this year is a complete shame
as other people say i think 3ds will hit the 80 millions mark lt

So instead of making a thread explaining why you think it would be a success in this scenario, you ask people their opinion on the matter and then tell anyone whose opinion differs from yours that they're wrong? I really don't understand what made you think that was a good idea.

Damn, im just exploiting my opinions. I just was basically saying that the Market has changed. Whats your deal?

People make threads, then arguements will be brought up. Im just putting my points across. If some believe its a failure fine, but i didn't see him mentioning about today's market nd if it is affecting sales at all.

Personally i say its neutral. I dont think its a success bt by no means i believe its a failure.

Edit: Due note i did argue cuz he said less than 80mil is a failure but i can counter and say PS3 (85mil+) vs GCN (22mil) is a huge difference in HW #s but GCN profited while ps3 loss tons of money :p

Losing 1/3 of your market in a period of time where your Sony's marketshare diminished to practically 0 is in no way a success.

So based on your logic ...the playstation 3 is a failure because its predecessors ps1 and ps2 sold over 100,000,000 and the playstation sold 80,000,000+Which is 50 and 20 percent decline in consoles sold for ps3 ...come on it's a success ..any device that brings a profit to your company is a success maybe not as big as a success that nintendo wanted, also you have to take into account tablets, cellphones etc being so big in this generation and for them to sell over 50,000,000 is a great accomplishment..also  it's the software sales that matters most and it has sold a lot of software so yes it's a success ....just saying

depend the time it is avaliable.
50 mil in 4 year is success.
but in 7 years...

Game & Watch 4 lyf.

Consoles: 3DS, Wii U, and Vita soon. Super Paper Mario fan.

The PS3 itself was a success, extra so when considering how well it recovered from its bad start, but when compared to the PS2 it could certainly be considered a disappointment.

Likewise the 3DS selling 50 million (or even 100 million) would be a success in of itself, but a disappointment compared to the DS. Really though, the 3DS's problem isn't hardware sales, it's software >.< Just over 130 million games sold after 3 years and 45 million 3DS's... The 3DS could also be seen as a failure for selling so much less than the DS despite almost no strong competition from Sony, but that's because of the mobile market.

So yes, by comparison to x y z the PS3 and 3DS could both be considered disappointing sales wise, but as products themselves they have done fine.

normal.
For me, less of 30milion is a FLOP... More of 30 milion is good.
More of 60 milion is succes.

It depends on your perspective. Is it making Nintendo money?...then one might say it´s a 'success'...on the other hand, ever since the Gameboy, and up till now, the GBA is Nintendo´s lowest selling handheld, but the 3DS might just grab that place..so, is it still a success?...I´d like to know whether or not Iwata & Co consider it a success when they have their internal meetings.

Overall, this hasn´t been a pretty generation for Nintendo, with both the home console and the handheld having a very real chance of becoming Nintendo´s worst selling systems in their respective categories.

considering how much the original DS sold, I would say 50k life time would be a failure.  I expect it to hit 50M before this year ends, and around 70-75M lifetime.

I think Nintendo won't anounce another handheld until next year as they will want the 3DS to get at least one more holiday of good sales.

going from 150 million to 50 million is a huge failure 1/3
It looks as if the vita is going to do worse though
80 million to maybe 20 million 1/4
