Definetely an interesting story indeed =)
It kinda remind me of Sleeping Dogs, started as a reboot of True Crime. On a bigger scale tough.

Infact any Psygnosis game, there are loads. All owned by Sony now, one is coming back (Shadow of the Beast), I hope there is more to come from the many IPs Psygnosis had.
