Forums - Gaming - All Day 1 DLC is a BIG F*** You To Us Gamers, Agree or Disagree? (Releasing A Game Thats Incomplete for Extra $$)

Not all games sell millions. There are tons, especially Japanese games that sell less than 100k. They don't spend much money making them, but they still sometimes don't make a profit. They put a lot of effort, make good games, but it is not enough. Now they can make the dlc, not put it on disc and wait months before releasing it. At the end of the day, it doens't make a difference. They believe that what they offer unlocked on the disc is worth $60. It's up to the individual to decide based on reviews and comments on the game's length whether that's enough for them to buy it at launch.

I'd agree to DLC if it's not on the disc and isn't released day one.

I get that. I'm just wondering how do you think one can tell that a dlc that is not on disc or day one was not made with the rest of the game and simply want to give gamers the impression that it was made post launch. Is there really a way to find out?

You also seem to forget all the free dlc that we got with PSASBR. I definitely remember getting Kat and Emmet (?) for free and Zeus and someone else were free if you bought the latest God of War game. That should count for something. I waited and bought Zeus and the other guy for £1 last week.

Oh really? Was it timed free dlc cuz i remember the prices off the top of my head. If it was timed it gives early adopters a good reward.

But i still think its bad that they gave you 20 characters with no unlockables but later for DLC, but of course thats just my opinion

But if its day 1 wats the excuse of not being in the original game??? Also i agree 3 characters for $10 O.o  I just did an example from PSASBR (2 characters and a stage $10), with no unlockables in the main game -_-

As others have said, there's quite some time between the day a game is finished and release day. Which the millions of game boxes are being made and the game is being burned to millions of discs and then those discs are delivered all over the world for people to buy, the developer can use that time to make the day one DLC. If the made that DLC as part of the game to start with, the release date would have to be pushed back so the developer can have it ready by the time the discs have to be burned.

Only exception is when it's on-disc DLC or when a download-only game has day one DLC, because then the DLC was clearly ready by the time those discs had to be burned or when the game was ready for download and that content could easily have been included with the reast of the game without pushing back the release date.

MG is day one at a lower price point than normal 3DS games while offering the content amount as previous iterations. THen its also offering optional content that when purchased still keeps the price below the normal 3DS game cost...

MG is how it should be done.

Except here its $70, $10 more than most 3DS games. Add the season pass on top and its more expensive than any Wii U game, therefore complete BS and not worthy of a purchase. Also being Nintendo the game will never drop in price which means it will never be at a price worth purchasing it at.

Ooh I forgot about that. Yeah, the DLC was free for like 2 or more weeks. Which was pretty cool.

Yeah, they were for early adoptors, which is great in my opinon. If you pay £40 for it, while someone waits till it drops to 10, the first shoul get some kind of reward. I think the time frame for the first two was 2 weeks or something (as in you have two weeks to download it or pay for it later).

It goes without saying that the roster was not strong enough. There should have been more characters, even if they were less known ones and make some of them unlockable, but alas.

Here's the deal. Back in the day, when consoles weren't connected to the internet, companies COULDN'T chop up a game and sell it for more than whatever retail was. Now that they can, they are. It's not like they are getting more greedy. It's just that they have new ways to BE greedy and they're taking advantage of it.

If people don't like it, find a new hobby or play indie only. That's my opinion.

Some of the DLC was probably made during the game considering the artists probably don't have any work to do at that stage, but that's where the problem with the games industry is they're too secretive about almost everything, and we don't know whether it was made after or before the game was released.
