Forums - Gaming - Angry Joe Reviews: The Elder Scrolls Online

Gotta disagree with Joe on this one, I gave the game a preliminary 8/10 based on my experience in the beta, and some of the issues I had with the game during beta have since been fixed, so I'm guessing my final score will be at least 8.5/10. Waiting for the console release to play the full game. It's honestly one of the top 3 MMO's I've ever played and a pretty good Elder Scrolls game in it's own right.

Just for clarifications sake, do you have any counters to Joe argument's or you just weight the things he is concerned about on different scales personally i.e the things that matter to you the game does well. Because I basically agree with a lot of his issues with the game. Its not a standalone ES game and yet at the same time barely foster a sense of social interaction, not to mention it doesn't have the depth or immersion of a typical ES game.

I cannot overlook the glaring issues in ESO when comparing it to other ES games.

haven't played, but had watche someone play beta for a ffew hours to see if i wanted to get the game. Had to decide early cause stupid ass pre-order and stuff like that is the only way to play races freely and I came to the exact same conclusions as Angry Joe did in his review. Well not the PVP, didn't see that at all.

But immersion was completely lost. There is people running through dungeons clearing them like crazy, no way to stealth or feel like your adventuring when 10 people run past you. The camping of bosses is horrible.

The grouping is so pathetic I can't believe this game even exists. i have never seen grouping that bad in an MMO ever. Didn't think you could screw it up like that. Seriously there is no point in grouping. All it does it show your group members hp on the side and show you an arrow above their head. Thats it. nothing else.

I could go on, but like I said he pretty much covered it all in teh review. This was all things I notice and made me run away from this game after watching some gameplay. I feel sorry for those that spent the near $100 to play this game.

All Guild Quests / Story Quests are done solo. There's no one else in your game while you play them.  Other players only play with you in open zone quests or open Dungeons.

I'm not going to be giving my money to such a greedy company like Zenamax. Locking races behind paywalls, 60$ game +15$ subscription and many more issues I have with the way the developers have handled this game.

Also, don't misquote me, as I was wondering if you have played many. Do you not understand the simple concept of a question mark? That's kinda hilarious.

I usually don't engage in arguments / bantering on this forum as its a waste of time, but your response was "You haven't played many I assume." That's an obvious alogation that I don't know what I'm talking about because I like the game. It implies that I'm a noob to MMO's. Which isn't the case. The general consensus is the game is pretty damn fantastic. Sure there's some people that aren't enjoying it but that every game. In fact here's some glowing praise for you.

But that's my last post in this thread. Just decided to give my input since this a thread focusing on the review for a game. (Which in general is getting some pretty high scores, in fact I think the review you posted is the most negative one I've ever seen for the game by far)

I'm sure there are people out there that enjoy it, but the majority are saying that it's not a great game. A good one, but not great. There's been quite a few reviews that have a similar or a tad bit higher score than Joe's, and I shall provide you with the ones on Metacritic.

http://www.pcgamesn.com/elderscrolls/elder-scrolls-online-review   5/10

http://www.gamereactor.se/recensioner/154294/The+Elder+Scrolls+Online/   6/10

http://www.gamer.nl/review/455221/the-elder-scrolls-online-weet-niet-wat-het-wil-zijn   6/10

Even the user score on metacritic is a 6.5/10. You can say that it's just trolls giving it a 0, but I'm just telling you what I see. The critic score is a 78, a far cry from the usual scores an Elder Scrolls game usually receives. Again, I'll wait for the F2P version.

Mmo's dont usually get that good of scores right away.  They are constantly evolving and most generally have pretty rough launches.  A lot of the reviews are docking for bugs, but those will get ironed out in time.

it isnt comparable to a typical elder scrolls game, its an mmo.  You compare it to other games in the genre.  High 70 low 80 is pretty typical of an mmo at launch.

Also, if you are waiting for it to go f2p, you probably are never going to play it.  Just sayin...

I don't mind having to wait a long time for it to go F2P, my backlog is quite big right now and this game isn't at the top of my list in priority. Backlog will get even bigger once I get a PS4...

This is the best MMO I've ever played

Boy, I really wish that meant something.

Regardless, as a Elder Scrolls fan I'm sure I'll play it eventually.

ouch will definitely wait for it to be F2P and can't just fallout 4 or elder scrolls 6 come out already

I didn't watch it all, I get the point.

I'm gonna wait until its "reborn." I'd be surprised if they release that mess on consoles.

Not surprised at all, knew this game will be average.

It will definitely be going F2P eventually
