Forums - Gaming - 'The PS4 Has No Games' Narrative Needs To Stop

People are saying it has no games because there is a lack of exclusives and many of the new games coming out are old multiplatform ports. Not like the XBO is any better, but both consoles are not even one year old yet. It's silly to expect a console to have 600 games ready and appeal to everyone right out of the door.

PS4 have had superior Indie Game Support all the way, obviously. However, we should admit that the exclusives have been a bit more favorable to the XB1 side so far. What has stuck to my mind, good games or not...

XB1 : Forza, Dead Rising 3, Ryse of Rome, Titanfall, Killer Instinct, Plants vs Zombies GW
PS4 : Killzone SF, Knack, Injustice Among Gods, DC Universe, Outlast, Infamous SS

so it's a pretty balanced competition so far, but XB1 is slightly ahead because of FORZA. PS4 just doesn't yet have an answer for that. If Driveclub had been released already, it would be in perfect balance (excluding the indies).

However, MS used most of its ammo already while Sony is yet to show most... They were not concerned either since they were mostly supply constrained. They will now start releasing exclusives such as the Last of US remastered and Driveclub, and then the real show will begin for Sony...

Playstation 5 vs XBox Series Market Share Estimates

Regional Analysis  (only MS and Sony Consoles)
Europe     => XB1 : 23-24 % vs PS4 : 76-77%
N. America => XB1 :  49-52% vs PS4 : 48-51%
Global     => XB1 :  32-34% vs PS4 : 66-68%

Sales Estimations for 8th Generation Consoles

Next Gen Consoles Impressions and Estimates

10 Retail Games since launch.
1 exlusive between launch and may.
1 retail title that isn't available on last gen.

So yeah, I'd say that no games is pretty apt. Infamous, a handful of indie exclusives (most of which can be played on a PS3, XBox 360, Wii U, or a pretty modest PC), and uprezzed versions of game. If that's enough to get you to throw down 400 dollars, go for it. Not me though.

Updated to include November and December.

It's fascinating to see how many ways some people can twist reality in order to convince themselves and others that the console with the fewer games has more games than the console with the most games.

'I have more to drink from my half pint glass than you have to drink from your pint glass because I don't like what you're drinking.'

10 is greater than 5, 15 is greater than 10, 25 is greater than 15 and 200 is greater than 100. No matter what your tastes are (your dislikes or likes) the fact still remains that 'No games' cannot be applied to the PS4 or the X1. You can apply 'fewer games' though, and as of this moment, the X1 has 'fewer' games than the PS4. This is the reality.

Then the question becomes why buy either system?

Agreed plenty of indie titles, not many actual AAA experiences. My Ps4 hasn't been used in a little while, but the games will come eventually. I'm just impatient.

I get being impatient.  I've bought every Nintendo console at launch, but that's because I'm a fanboy, not because I thought Pilotwings Resort was an amazing title.  If people buy a console because of blind devotion to a company, I get it.  But, trying to pretend the PS4's lineup at this point is good is silly.  And saying "oh PS4's lineup is good because it's less shit than the XBox One's lineup" (debateable anyway) is a ridiculous mentality that lowers the bar for both companies.  Hey Sony, it's ok if you suck, so long as you suck slightly less than the other guys.

Those ignoring games because they are playable elsewhere are out of touch with reality. People who buy XB & PS games mostly play lots of 3rd party multiplat games. Only 15 out of the top 50 best selling games on PS3 are 1st party, and the same for 360.

My 8th gen collection

It's sill to dismiss 3rd party games or PC ports when directly comparing one console to another. If one has more games than the other, that's that.If MS can understand that, you guys should too.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

I didn't buy a PS4 for a bunch of garbage Indie games (most are on PC/last gen) I want real high quality games. When PS4 gets some let me know.
