Yes, I used to say it would not be a hit. I just never thought the sales would be this abysmal. I could hardly be more pleased. The sooner Ninty goes third party only the better for all gamers.

You always make me laugh. Keep the posts like these comming.

Isnt the idea great? more people play Nintendo games and at cheaper prices on tablets and phones. I am glad you are growing up pie and see the bigger picture now young one.

Around the Network

I think Seece and I were partners is spreading the fact that Wii U would never live up to expectations following the Wii and that it would probably be closer to N64 levels than Wii levels from the start.

I don't think anyone really expected the kind of performance the Wii U has had.  Even people who were bearish about its chances generally expected far more than it actually sold.  If anything, people who put thought into their predictions were probably less likely to get them correct.  Prior to launch it would have been pretty difficult to argue that the Wii U would be doing worse than the Gamecube.  Someone who just threw out a number would probably have a better shot at being accurate.

It is amazing how often people labelled as "haters" or "trolls" actually expected the Wii U to sell more than it has so far.

To put some numbers to this, there were 76 predictions for 2013 in this thread.  The lowest Wii U prediction was more than 20% higher than the actual sales numbers.  The average was about 188% higher.

I was expecting average sales, but never did I expect something so terrible to happen and then...2013 arrived. It all started to make sense then...

I thought it would do pretty well.

Around the Network

I expected it would sell significantly less than its predecessor, but I did not think it would perform this poorly.

Both E3 2011 and 2012 gave me a bad feeling about the product.Something felt 'off', so I expected something that would perform considerably worse than the Wii, but not necessarily a 'flop', depending on one´s definition of it...though, I had NEVER imagined the system would be struggling to even match Gamecube numbers (guess no one could see that coming)

Before the Wii launched, Iwata said something like "not being in the business if they can´t do better than the GCN".They did far better than the GCN but now it´s scary they´ve got a system that has a real chance of doing even worse, making it the worst selling Nintendo console ever, Virtual Boy aside.

As soon as I seen the specs and the massive decline in Wii sales, I know it would be.

I make bad threads.

SSB really went downhill after Melee....

It would have been hard to estimate any actual numbers. The console market has expanded and shifted so much over the past few generations, particularly with the casual anomaly, that historical figures are basically useless.

I don't know that I actually put numbers to my predictions, but prior to launch I was expecting slightly above Gamecube levels lifetime, if only because the system would probably have a longer lifespan (which isn't outside the realm of possibility, even at this point). The fact consoles are on the market longer isn't helping make accurate estimations.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

Around WiiU's launch, I predicted that it would sell 18m by the end of 2013. I still have tons of crow leftovers in my freezer because of it. Needless to say, no, I didn't think it would flop.

That said, even last summer I didn't think it would still be doing as badly as it is. Back then it deserved it but now it's a shame seeing as how it has arguably the best library of games of the current consoles.
