Forums - Sony - PS4 Version of Beyond: Two Souls Possibly Ousted by DualShock 4 Input Code

I'm all for the PS4 getting more games, but remastering Beyond for the PS4 is meaningless, in my opinion. While a good game, it was a step down from Heavy Rain. In contrast, The Last of Us won so many awards and received accolades from both the consumers and the media. So many people want to play The Last of Us because of its sheer quality, but a lot of them never owned a PS3, so releasing it on the PS4 made sense. This isn't the case for Beyond because it didn't make as large of an impact as The Last of Us.

Yet another freakin' port. I shouldn't have even bought a PS3. Should have waited eight years and purchased every PS3 game for the PS4.

What's the problem really?

An insignificant graphics boost of a game released less than a year ago.  Wow!  I'm so excited!

So six months in the Playstation 4's life, I can play three retail exclusives that I can't play on the PS3, or, I can play a plethora of games that I can already play on my PS3 with nothing more than a marginal graphics boost.

OK, but who is forcing you to care about this?  Ignore it if you're not excited.

For some people an enhanced version of a PS3 game is better than no game, especially if they haven't played it on the PS3.

What does this game possibly gain for being on the PS4? Seriously how does 1080p and 60fps improve Beyond: Two Souls? Nevermind if you think the game is good or not, this seems really unnecessary.

I'm thinking that Sony is trying to make up for lack of backwards compatibility.

I'm gtting upset with Sony now.

Another PS4 port that has been delayed.

What do they think this is? The Wii U?

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

No, I understand the whole cash grab concept but there are other ways they could have done this such as Playstation Now (provided thats a cheaper alternative of course).

People don't want to stream games though.

So they should pay $60 instead? (provided thats the price of the actual game though, if its $30-$40, than its fine but based on PsP ports on the Vita, I doubt thats the case)

you know, there is something you can do about it, which is wait for the price to drop :/

They really should probably quit trying to put out "super-hd" versions of PS3 games that just recently came out, and worry about getting more NEW exclusives for PS4 anyway.

They've got plenty of resources going into new PS4 exclusives. All these seem to just be filled to fill out the first year or so which is pretty much universally a woeful period for a new system.

It opens it up to PS4 owners who moved from the 360? Or like me, who never bothered with the PS3 versions because I had already moved onto 8th gen? (Same applies to TLOU for me really).

I thought that was what PSNow was supposed to be for: to let you play PS Classics on Sony devices.

Yeah. I don't know that I would call this "making up for backwards compatibility". In order to do that you'd have to remake a ton of games from the previous generation including titles that aren't your own. Remaking a couple of recent games, one of which didn't thrill most people, is mostly just done for quick sales and to help entice people to move on from the previous generation. For former exclusive owners of Wii or 360 who are looking to make the jump to next gen, offering PS3 exclusive titles on the new platform isn't a bad strategy at all. Especially if it doesn't require too much time or resources. The marketing was already done for the most part. They know the games exist. They may have been very interested in them but didn't want to spend the money knowing the next gen was coming. Now they have a reason to go PS4 and buy these games that they otherwise wouldn't have. It's a good short term strategy in the early stages of a new console war. I just better not see "MOTORSTORM REMADE EXTENDED LIMITED SPECIAL DIRECTOR'S CUT EDITION!"
