Forums - Sales - NPD March 2014 Thread - PS4 #1 (371k), Xbox One 311k, 360 111k, WiiU ~70k, Vita close to 4 digits. Titanfall tops software

Did the NPD results surprise you?

Yes 379 53.23%

No 308 43.26%

Total:687

Vita solution is for SCEA to get their collective heads out of their asses and actually make an effort to sell it. Really as I said in the official thread, not being able to sell at least 5k a week in such a large market like the NA is incompetence of the highest degree. Absolutely pathetic stuff

Something that I don't think anyone has mentioned, yet, is that the One has only shipped 1.1M this year, as of April 17th. Which means probably 900K-1M for Q1. This is in line with the 360's shipments for the past few years, a little worse for some years. MS keeps going on about how the One is outpacing the 360, overall, but these numbers definitely show sales are slowing down WW.

The funny thing about Neogaf is that the trend right now is:

"MS isnt pulling no PS3. The only reason why PS3 was able to bounce back is because of Sony's first party support and the devs talented enough to exploit Cell in said 1st party. MS got to comfortable coasting on 3rd parties last gen and now its biting them."

"Eh...The PS3 was carried by rest of the world.

Right now, the XB division is in a worst shape than the PS3 situation since the MS brand isn't that strong outside of NA/UK.

PS3 came back from a fricken 1 year sales gap + stupid high price because of the WW numbers and strong brand support. But X1? It is almost dead on arrival for most countries, hence why MS probably didn't want to ship extra units to other 2nd/3rd tier countries and wasting marketing/shipping resources for doing so."

And so on...

I wonder if those guys realise that by this time of the year in 2007 the PS3 was doig 1/3 of current XOne sales and was 7mi units behind the 360?

And Sony was bleeding mony on the galons with each console sold?

Well.. that is why I love NeoGaf. You can talk your BS you want and no one will call you out.

Well in total shipments it is still well ahead.  The first two quarters saw 3.2m for the 360.  However the majority of that, 1.7m, was actually in the Jan-Mar quarter.  The 360 was supply constrained and launched in more territories though, so the comparisons aren't perfect.  At the end of the year the XBOne was at ~1.8m in the US and 3m worldwide.  If that ratio has held true this year, then the worldwide sales would be ~1.17m for 2014 based on 711k US sales.

You mean a $500 console selling slightly less than the last 2 years of a $300(or $200) console?

Funny thought that the PS4 is also selling slightly less than the did PS3 last 3 years... but in that case we can always blame "the shortages".

no it wasn't the ps3 was at 2,858,197 at the end of march 2007 and the x1 at 4.1mill at the end of march 2014, and let's forget the x360 was a full year on the market longer than the ps3 ;)

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

You mean those timely and scatered on some places promotions?

Friend, as long Microsoft keeps the official price at $500 those deals won´t have much effect (outside the hollydays).

But as I said, sales will drop this summer, don´t matter what Microsoft bundle the console... the Hollydays, thought, could be a different story.

Highest selling Wii U game this month:
