Forums - Gaming - How do you feel about game prices?

I'm more than happy to spend full price on any game I want. Gaming is my hobby and whereas many people think nothing of spending £60 plus on a night out drinking, they would find it too expensive paying £40 for a game they want which lasts always and provides hours and hours of entertainment. I don't even ever buy used games because I like having brand new stuff. Same goes for DVDs etc.

Basically, I don't feel video games are over-priced.

Well in New Zealand PS4 prices range from a minimum of $98-$120 NZD for standard games which is equivalent to $85-$105 USD. So yea i would kill for $60 USD for all games which is $70 NZD.

Day 1 for big-hitters I know won't fail me (Zelda, Mario Kart, etc)

From there, the more riskier/unestablished the game/series is for me personally, the bigger price cut I wait for.
eg. 20% off Donkey Kong, 50% off ZombiiU, 75% off Mass Effect

its cheap, but the most games are crap... i dont pay more than they ask in steamsales for a bad fps...

They are the reason I stopped bying more than 5 games a year.Where I live taxes and that wonderfull euro make things even worse. And because I'm mainly a Nintendo gamer things are as a bad as they get because their titles never come down in price.

Game prices are fine.. certainly not too high.. they go down over time.. just wait till it gets to the price you want.. how many other products go down in price this fast?

Personally I buy 5 to 10 games a year full price if I have the time to play them.. if I don't have the time to play them I usually wait for them to drop in price..

I prefer to buy new but certainly not at full price. I believe that is too much. I think this mainly comes from PS2 era, it's when I could first afford games myself with my money (not just as gifts or parents buying them). Games at the time came out as RRP of £40, got reduced in cost competition with other shops to £30, new. Now games RRP are like £60, reduced in shops to £50, if you are lucky they'll go as low as £40.

That said, I wait until £25-£30 for a game I want, £15 (used mainly) for a game I'm casually interested in.

Hmm, pie.

I have had a huge back catalog of games to complete for around 2 years now, so i very rarely buy games at full price, but im definitely not opposed to it.
I think games reaching £60 is a bit ridiculous though, £40-£45 is the sweet spot for a brand new release

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

I'll buy a game at full price if I really want it. I think the price is fair, for the cost of making the games. I'm shocked they haven't gone up any in years.

Will be buying even less day one games for the new gen of consoles as the price has risen to £45-50, which staying the same price in the US. So fuck the greedy cunts who only raise price in EU, bargain bin deals all the gen for me.

EA have said that all their new games for the PS4 and Xbox One are going to start at £54.99 too but kept it at $60 for the US
